Pros: excellent picture and DVI input

    Cons: cost

I had a CRT projector but I moved and didn't have anywhere in this house to put it. I gave a BenQ 6200 DLP projector a try. Had a very nice picture but the rainbow effect gave me headache afterwhile. I really didn't want to try a LCD because ...of the screen door effect and poor blacks. Especially after having a beautiful pix with my CRT. I'm glad I gave this unit a shot! With the DVI input and a true HD picture of discover HD I have never seen such a sharp and clear picture. This put my CRT to shame. Even the blacks were very close. The screen door effect is none existent with this machine. I stood 2 feet from the screen and still couldn't pick out a pixel. The blacks however leave something to be desired on anything but DVI and HD. Progressive scan and 480i look about the same from DVD. Both have great picture. Highly recommend this PJ for HD and DVD playback. Regular TV is a little soft but still acceptable. This is a great unit and seems well built. No dead pixels on mine. Nice remote. The pix is as good and better(in HD) then my CRT which I couldn't believe. The black issue doesn't really bother you on a movie but you have several adjustments and can almost get it right. Recommend and for HD excellent. Read more Less

    Panasonic PT-L500U Home Theater Projector

With a street price of $2499.99, the PT - L500U is a great buy. While there are definitely less expensive projection units out there, they scarcely compare to the quality of picture and features that the Panasonic model delivers. You can expect the lamp to last for approximately 5000 hours of average use before replacement. Finally, the projector can be considered a great long- term investment with comparatively low maintenance costs (a replacement lamp costs about $370). Read more
