Pros: 10X optical zoom, lots of features

Cons: lens cover is not automatic, it's big

I bought this camera a couple months ago and I really like it. It has a great zoom, lots of fun shutter speed settings and various other options to fiddle with. It takes fantastic video as well. But: it's bulky. If you just want a point and shoo...t camera to put in your pocket so you can take pictures of your friends or whatever, get something else. I paid $250 and got 1GB SD card and an extra battery for free. Good deal i think. Read more Less

    Good, but could be better

Pros: Compact body (for a 10x optical zoom), image stabilization, decent video mode

Cons: Lag makes it likely for subjects to blink when using flash; challenge to get good low light photos without flash

This camera, for a 10x zoom, is not bulky. Take a look at other cameras with comparable optical zoom capabilities, and you will see the size difference. The image stabilization is stellar; I can be walking, arms shaking, and snap a picture with no fl...ash, and it will come out as a fairly clear picture. My biggest complaints are with the flash: the camera records pictures a second too long after the flash happens, resulting in blinking subjects, especially when taking pictures of babies or pets. The flash is also painfully bright. When I try to take pictures with the flash off, I can get a good picture in the viewfinder, only to have it record 3 shades darker. You can amp the exposure, but it only does so much. If you slow the shutter speed, it helps, but you risk a blurry photo. And, even if you get the right balance of exposure, shutter speed, and white balance, the moment is usually gone by then. Additionally, the auto white balance doesn't do a very good job, especially in florescent lights. And, there is no setting for florescent lights, so you have to manually set the white balance, and use that setting. Overall, this is a quality camera, at least for the price, despite its downfalls. If you want something with strong zoom capabilities without the bulk of other cameras, this is it. If you just want a beginner's camera to take pictures of your baby, this is not it. Read more Less

    Fantastic camera

Pros: Very small size for a 10x optical zoom camera, high sensitivity settings(1600iso), long battery life, powerful image stabilizer

    Cons: None

I used this camera for a whole season and found it to be one of the best point and shoot. The zoom is just too good that I was able to take some naughty pics.

Pros: 10x zoom, and it's a beautiful camera

Cons: i don't like the colours

a beautiful camera. easy to use with one hand. not big and not too light, feels like a camera, not like a toy. but: the flash menu button is too close to your hand, sometimes i click it inadvertedly... not very handy in a museum. just a bit too autom...atic to my taste. and i prefer cannon and sony colours. but i love it! Pros: Well made, well spec'd, good looking, well priced

    Cons: can't think of any

This is my first digital camera (really!) and I was a bit nervous about the purchase. I needn't have worried - this is an excellent mid-range camera, ideal for the beginner photographer who wants to take some good shots without spending mega buck...s. I especially like the optical image stabilizer. Read more Less

TZ1 is a good bang for your buck

    By Clifton  Mar 28, 2007

Pros: Semi small form factor, scene options, large screen, intuitive menus, 10X zoom, easy to hold

Cons: Have to open battery cover to get to SD card

This Lumix camera has taken some great pictures for me. The colors are fantastic and vibrant. The LCD screne is big enough you can actually use it to preview the pictures on the camera. It also makes a pretty good video camera too, granted you have e...nough space on your SD card. It'll be fun using the baby scenes to take pictures of the kids in the future. I would recommend this camera to everyone and now that Panasonic is coming out with their new models this one will be even cheaper. Get one today, you won't regret it! Read more Less

Pros: image quality, 10x zoom, 1600 iso, durable battery, comfortable, cheap, macro

    Cons: limited options

it is a beautiful camera, 350USD including shipment, case and 1giga sd card. 2.5" screen, easy to use software, light, resistant, 500+ photos per charge, jpg incredible leica lens, extra slim 10x optical zoom, perfect macro, beatiful colors, sh...arp image, sd cards, 1600 iso, can take pictures without flash at night, tons of modes. nice to hold, to shoot, to view. amazing results few cons: would like to have more manual options, would like to have the 1600 iso in the normal mode, more options not needing to access option menu. bottom line: excellent camera to have, smallest and cheapest camera available with all this quality and features!!! im an architecture student with some experience in cameras but who loves taking good pictures. i read all reviews available!!! my father uses it and has no experience in digital cameras at all! if you want a manual camera this ain't it, but it has some nice options and lot of features.
