Cons: Limited indoor use
I purchased this camera before christmas last year and have taken several hundred pictures with it. I'm a pure amature and got tired of developing film only to get 4 or 5 good pics out of the pack. This camera, due to it's small mp size can h...old over 200 pics on the 512mb card I bought so I take a tons of pics until I like what I see. Outside, this camera gives excellent quality, tone, sharpness. I love it. Inside, I have to take alot more pics to get the good ones. The color often goes orange/red until I use a flash or the portrait setting. I paid $169 for this camera and because of the outside pic quality, I am very satisfied with it. Read more Less

Pros: Great for outdoor photos in plenty of natural light. Great lens but...
Cons: indoors it's terrible; Zooming in gets blurry pictures.
To zoom way out, it needs better stabilization; even sitting on a solid platform, zoom pix are blurry. Indoor pictures are not worth taking. It's impossible to get the color balance correct. Pictures are either too yellow, too grainy, too blue or... too dark. A throwaway film camera is better for indoor shots. Read more Less

In conclusion, the FZ1 is very good and a camera that offers capabilities that very few others can match. It reacts quickly, and the stabilized Leica lens is excellent. But, by the same token, those attributes also make us wish that it had a larger image size, some more advanced program modes, a manual mode and a longer maximum exposure time coupled with an efficient noise reduction system. In conclusion, the FZ1 is a nice choice if you don't need a lot of resolution. If you're doing larger prints (8 x 10 or greater), and don't mind missing out on this nice lens, the Olympus models may be a better choice. Read more
