You can put handsets all over your house-in your kid's rooms or even in the garage-without all the messy wiring or complicated setup. With Panasonic 5.8 GHz expandable phone system, you don't need a phone jack for each additional handset-just one for the base unit. So start expanding and forget about all your wiring worries.

The 5.8 GHz Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum technology operates on a different wavelength with much less traffic than the 2.4 GHz technology while maintaining the great security, incredible clarity and long range. Have a wireless computer network, or thinking about getting one? 5.8 GHz technology will not interfere with wireless networks such as 802.11b or 802.11g WiFi.

The backlit 1.5" LCD on the handset is displayed in full-color for amazing clarity and a personalized phone experience. You can personalize your phone's display using any of the preset wallpaper images, or download images via the USB port. Picture ID allows you to associate caller ID information with unique display images when your friends or family call you. The large lighted handset display uses color icons for easy navigation of the phone's features.

With Talking Caller ID, you don't have to get up to see who's calling - the phone will tell you. Panasonic cordless phones are the only cordless phones to incorporate true text-to-speech technology used in conjunction with your Caller ID service. There's no need for preprogramming or any fancy setup - as long as you have Caller ID service, just plug-and-play! Now you won't be interrupted by strange calls when you're washing the dishes, eating dinner or just watching TV. Let the phone tell you who's calling, so you can decide if you want to answer it or not.

This expandable phone system lets you upload unlimited free recordings of your favorite songs or sounds that you can set as your telephone ringer. All you need is the included audio cable and the music or sounds. Maximum recording time is 2 minutes.

This phone system is equipped with an all-digital answering system for quick, easy retrieval of crystal-clear messages. Message operation has never been easier, with up to 21 minutes of recording time, plus such features as pre-recorded outgoing message, remote operation, Tollsaver, and skip-and-repeat. And don't worry about losing your messages when the power goes out-they're stored in flash memory so they're unaffected by power failure or interruptions.

Having a handset speakerphone may not seem like such a big deal - until you have to call an automated phone system. By the time you press "2" and return the phone to your ear, you missed half the next option! And when they put you on hold for ten minutes, do you really need to hold the phone? Not with the handset speakerphone. Just listen along, and press a button or pick up when it's convenient. You'll think up other great uses, like letting Grandma and Grandpa listen to their new grandchild at the same time, painting your nails as you talk to your best friend, or just being able to set the phone down while you talk.

    The Bees Knees

    Pros: Color Screen

Cons: No dialing display on the base unit

This phone is the bees knees. The clarity and the range are far out. I can take the phone out the front door and down the street two houses and still talk. The phone is set up like a cell phone so setting it up is fairly easy. You can download photo...s, ringtones, and your address book. The color screen is great if you have problems with your eyes as I do. The software is easy to use. It comes with quite few photos and picture IDs that can be used or you can make your own. You just select your own picture and it converts it. ***CONS*** There is no display that shows the number you are dialing on the base unit. The Panasonic software requires that your address book be converted to CSV which is easy. However, after you convert your address book to CSV and import it into the software, you will need to do some finesseing with some of the names and numbers. It only lets you choose either first or last name and not both. That aggravated me to no end. I spent 30 minutes fixing names and numbers before I downloaded them to the handset. However, the transfer process wasn't bad and it only took seconds. I downloaded my address book to both handset rather than using the handset address copy feature. It's nice that Panasonic has the copy address to handset features tho. I have Cox Cable Telephone and the CID database used is out of date. The Talking CID says what the phone line displays. However, it would be nice if the CID looked in your address book like your cell phone does. They didn't included the belt clip. Which is no big deal but for the price one pays for this phone, it would be nice if Panasonic included it. **I saw a report on the news about CID. If your phone company doesn't update its databases you will get a lot of messages that read out of service, long distance, or out of state readings. I heard it doesn't cost much for the phone companies to update these databases. They choose or are too cheap to spend the money to update their CID databases. Read more Less

    Great Setup

By Joshua  Jan 1, 2007 | 2 out of 2 found this Panasonic KX-TG5776S review helpful

Pros: Color Display, Computer Backup, Use your own Pics and ringtones, Speaker Phone, cool accessories, base dialing, answering machine, easy to use and setup.

Cons: No "do not disturb" feature.

Love the phone! Comes with software that lets you up load your own pics and wallpapers directly from your PC and probably my favorite feature is the fact that you can upload contact info from PC so you are not sitting for hours typing it in on the ph...one. Also lets you save contact info on PC for backup later if needed. Has ring and picture ID to go along with talking caller ID. This system also has some very nice accessories that can be ordered to go along with the phones. Expandable for multiple headsets. You can even add a color video monitor with sound to this system. My previous phone system did have a "do not disturb" feature that I wish this system had but overall I love it! Read more Less
