First Palm Ive Owned - Love It

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 9, 2002 | 8 out of 8 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

I never imagined that I could benefit from using a Palm. After changing jobs in September, I found myself the only person on staff without one. When the i705 dropped drastically in price, I bought one. Ive found the user board extremely helpful. The ...unit was very easy to setup and Ive had no problems. I highly suggest this unit to beginners. And because of the always on internet connection, I use my Palm all the time to check my email at work. Read more Less

    Can't actvate the e-mail

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 3, 2002 | 4 out of 5 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

I have had the i705 for 2 weeks now. The installation and hot sync to my desktop was a breeze. I then signed up for the executive, unlimited e-mail plan. The deal is great.THEN THE PROBLEM STARTED!!!!Before you can use the wireless service on the i70...5, you have to run the activation program from the unit. Evey time I run it, it bombs when it is just about ready to finish activation.I have placed numerous calls to customer service. Their standard answer is "our servers are very busy, sir. Try again later."Well I have been trying for 2 weeks and still I can't get the damned thing to activate. The signal strength is lousey, and the servers are always busy. You'd think that they would have been able to figure out how many units they've sold so that they could have enough server capacity available to handle the units.I am going back to my Palm 5x with the Minstrel modem and Earthlink wireless service. It's not as fancy as the i705, but at least it gets an excellent connection, and it always works. Read more Less

I bought one yesterday - GREAT!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 31, 2002 | 2 out of 2 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

I picked one up at CompUSA last evening. Went home, charged it for an hour, then signed up for the wireless acount.Everything went very smoothly. The new MyPalm application on the i705 really integrates wireless features nicely. AOL's Instant Messag...er runs great and set itself up - again, very simple.I've redirected some of my email to come to my palm.com email address; have been receiving emails all day. Again, very simple to use and set up.The screen clarity is much better than my VIIx (which is going on eBay this weekend.)The fit and finish of this product is wonderful - very high quality manufacturing. As far as I'm concerned, the i705 is the best PDA/Internet access package around. I don't use my cell phone much at all, so really could care less about it not having this capability. What I do care about is:1) notification of important emails2) access to all of the wonderfully useful PalmOS applications I've become accustomed to over the past three years of Palm device owndership. The i705 is a winner![rb] Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 23, 2002 | 1 out of 1 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

This item is awesome. Don't have to go through all the hassle at the airport security checkpoint like I use to with my laptop. Now I just carry this to send and receive email. I love it!!!

Palm Internet access a passing fancy

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 3, 2002 | 1 out of 1 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

As most new cell phones are coming with e-mail access I would not want to spend this amount of $$ on a Palm. Palm's strength is in low end palmtops. The WinCE operating system does demand much more memory but it also is capable of so much more. As fa...r as software availability: WinCE has anything Palm or Handspring has available. If Superstores' shelves are any indicator, Palm rules the world of handhelds. However, a good portion of the software available after market for the Palm comes built-in to the WinCE models! Why use store shelves as the indicator? Go to Download.com and get all the software you ever need. My recommendation: Palm is a great low end Palmtop. If you are going to spend over $300 you might as well go for a WinCE device like HP's Jornada (My choice) or IPAQ. Read more Less

    Support Person

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 31, 2002 | 1 out of 1 found this Palm i705 handheld review helpful

I support both Ipaq and Palms/Handsprings and Palm wins hands down. Once the Palm is setup, I almost never hear from that user again. CE on the otherhand is a different story. Users open too many windows and lockup different apps. Same windows pr...oblems on a smaller device. They also do not realize that if they update a calendar entry, they need to do a hard resync, which is standard with a Palm. Then they are the funky Outlook problems with double entries. The Palm is easier to learn, setup, support, cheaper and much kinder with the battery life. The Ipaq is prettier and you can play music. What one do you want?? Read more Less

    Best All-Around Value PDA

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 17, 2003

I have been using my i705 now for over a month and I can say that it is by far the best bang-for-your-buck PDA out there now. I paid $150 at Office Max for mine and with the money I saved was able to get the great email and web package. The unit is s...leek, light-weight, simple to use right out the box, and easily upgradeable with the flash cards. Color? Who needs it. I needed to keep my meetings and appointments organized while being able to be connected to different email accounts. The i705 does all that very well and more. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Read more Less
