    Top all-in-one

Pros: GSM "global" phone, easy one-hand navigation and input for PDA functions and phone

Cons: Web browsing with the lower resolution screen; Seems to have some feedback and/or background buzzing on phone calls

I use my PDA primarily for keeping track of people and appointments. I don't use it to view spreadsheets or Word documents. I can now use it for doing e-mail which is something that I never really took advantage of even though my previous cell ...phone could handle SMS messaging. If you use your PDA in the same way then this phone is a wonderful marriage of cell phone and PDA functionality in one compact unit with all of the Internet connectivity options built in.The screen is bright and easy to read outdoors, even on bright days. This is the first time I've used the GSM band (which is used just about everywhere else in the world and which is now begining to roll out here in the U.S) so I got the phone thinking I would try it out to make sure I still got a signal here at my house. I did - in fact it seems that the GSM signal, at least for my location, is stronger than the old CDMA signal. One thing I have noticed is that people I call sometimes complaing of a buzzing noise on the line and I've had to mute my phone on some conference calls because of this problem. I'm planning to call AT&T to see if this is a known issue or maybe just my phone. My advice, make sure you can return it if you give it a try and don't get satisfactory phone results on the GSM network. Traveling overseas occasionally as I do, having a "global" phone will be a nice plus - as long as it works well here in the U.S. :-)Overall though a super unit. I'm very happy with it. so far so good

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 8, 2003 | 14 out of 19 found this Palm Treo 600 GSM review helpful

Pros: 3 in 1 - phone, pda, camera. The best so far of itskind

    Cons: pda 1st, phone and camera 2nd & 3rd

The best smart phone I ever seen.
However the phone is not as friendly as Nokia and PDA is not as good as iPaq. PDA does not support some of the popular features in iPaq such as MS Money etc.
    Camera resolution is too low.

    Pros: Lots of cool features.

    Cons: Features don't all work.

After four months of using my treo 600 phone. 1. The screen has developed specks. 2. The color is becoming discolored. 3. Camera has too much trouble adjusting to light. 4. Most pictures taken look terrible. 5. Ear speaker is becoming distorted... and cuts off.6. Speakerphone has always sounded distorted.7. Battery charge indicator will not show full charge.Sprint insists the phone is not at fault and will not repair it. DON’T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. Read more Less

I'm now on my 3rd Treo 600 and it's not working

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 7, 2004 | 7 out of 7 found this Palm Treo 600 GSM review helpful

Pros: The Treo 600 has many great features.

Cons: Constantly needs repair or exchange.

I was very excited about my Treo 600 which I purchased through Sprint Pcs. My excitement quickly turned to disapointment. I first noticed the poor picture resolution on both, pictures taken with the built in camera and picture transfered via hot sync.... I then began to notice a buzzing during calls when the Treo is connected to the home or car charger. I also noticed a large yellow dot in the middle of the screen and eventually the whole unit shut down and would not come back on, this was after two days of owning the Treo 600. I returned the Treo to Sprint and was given a replacement. I was equally disapointed with the replacement Treo 600. I now have two yellow dots in the middle of the screen, the picture quality is worst than the first treo I had, and the buzzing during a call while charging the Treo 600 is still present to the point that the person on the other end can't even hear you. My second Treo 600 also came right out of the box with the screen installed to far to the left and not centered properly. I also have found that when using the stylus in an application the data always goes past what you are looking for and you must tap the screen many times before it will stop at what you are looking for. I must say, the Treo 600 has many features that could make "mobile life" alot easier if it worked properly, the problem is that it doesn't. I feel that for six hundred dollars Palm/Handspring could put much more quality and workmanship into their units. My overall rating of this product is very poor and I would not advise anyone to purchase it. If you do, you are wasting your money and time because you will make many trips back to the place of purchase...Mark Read more Less

    awesome phone

    Pros: functionability/many items in one

    Cons: can't think of any

For the business professional, this is one of a kind. It combines your PDA, and phone in one. It has a wireless off mode so that you can continue to work on it while on the airplane, or in a doctor's office. It also lays flush against you, eve...n with a suit on. Read more Less

Good Technology - Functional & Fun

Pros: Ability to use PDA Contacts for phone list

Cons: Can't use as modem for LapTop

I bought the phone 10 days ago. I had been using the original Palm M100 PDA and a Motorola V60. I am glad to get rid of the extra baggage and trade them in for 1 unit.e-mail was easy to set-up to check home and office accounts (POP3). After having ...used a Palm PDA for so many years this was an easy conversion. I synch at the office and at home.Telephone works well (AT&T), you are able to choose network so I can choose between AT&T, Cingular and T-Mobile, same price because of wireless agreements. Individual phone ring tones and being able to assign fotos for individual callers is pretty cool.I like the thought that I can use my phone when I travel to Europe, they say it can be used in over 100 countries. I aim to try this out in the future.Online GSM tech support is really good but the telephone support is really lacking because the 2 times I called it took 15 and 20 minutes respectively to get through to a person. The internet access is good for checking weather and reading news stories. Graphic's intense websites obviously take a while to load. I have the unlimited data package and that probably is a good deal if you are constantly checking stuff on the web.The AT&T store did not have any accessories so I went to a Sprint store to get my Belt Clip. I look forward to the completion of AT&T and Cingular merging.Be aware that if the speaker volume is turned up too high your caller on the other end may get an annoying echo. The manual is pretty good and there are numerous online sites for additional tips and info. Treo 600 GSM

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 16, 2004 | 6 out of 8 found this Palm Treo 600 GSM review helpful

    Pros: Nice color screen

Cons: microscopic keyboard - poor coverage

The Treo 600 GSM I have been using for a few weeks has been a relative disappointment. Frequently the keyboard locks in a mode in many apps that won't change fonts/numbers, uppercase/lowercase and other critical features. Handspring has no supp...ort for this flaw yet it happens daily. The keyboard overall has a intuitive pattern but the keys are so small that they are almost worthless. I have been acoustomed to a Blackberry which is far more generous with the keyboard layout. Use of web email and accessing internet sites give you the complete page but only a scrollable fraction at a time. The navigation around an internet page has to be done with a combination of the stylus and the navigation button to be efficent. This makes using the Treo 600 a two handed operation which defeats the functionality of the device.Camera quality was very weak although it will hold alot of pictures. The quality if the picture of a single page in Arial or Times New Roman 10 pt is unreadable and a waste of effort. Battery life is limited. It held up in standby mode all one weekend. What Handspring doesn't tell you is:"There is no replacement battery and you can not replace it.When it dies, you have to buy another Treo 600". Sounds like the iPod?Other apps are available for any Palm based devices. Nothing unique enough to ask the blue sky price Handspring wants for the device. The Treo sells for about $500 with a service or about $700 without. For the same money there are far better Blackberry products on the market. Overall rating: Two big Read more Less

    Worse Than The Treo 300

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 30, 2004 | 5 out of 6 found this Palm Treo 600 GSM review helpful

    Pros: Looks Cool

    Cons: Worthless PDA and Sprint!

First off, if you have problems with this phone plan on spending 3-4 hours with rude people. This company has little to no customer support! I should have know...the Treo 300 was defective with flip screens that snap off due to poor engineering in a ...couple of months. I should have know better to purchase another phone from these guys. Don't waster your money on this this phone/PDA. Read more Less
