    Great product, support just ok

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 16, 2005 | 73 out of 83 found this Palm TX review helpful

Pros: Great screen size and perfect size

    Cons: Support is average.

I bought this product directly from Palm and have been a Palm user all my life. The bigger screen is really great for spreadsheets and presentations. Love using SD slot.

Support is ok. Had trouble with wireless, but eventually got it to work.

Pros: Size, Wi-Fi, Ease of Use, Price

Cons: Seperate Pwr cord, "trickle charge USB"

After running around the world with Palm's E2 and having to switch my SD storage card for my Wi-Fi card and not being able to download files I decided to bite the bullet and purchase Palm's T|X. Upon opening the flashy business box the T|X g...leems like a new penny. After a 3 hr initial charge I got to play with the T|X's features. Doc2GO, Versimail, and bluetooth connectivity all worked like a champ. The media program played mp3s and showed pictures on a beautiful landscape or vertical screen in millions of colors. The most impressive feature was the ease of use of the built-in Wi-Fi. I detected not only my home's network but 3 others in my neighborhood. I took my T|X on the road for the first time and connected to the hotel Wi-Fi without any trouble. My only complaint would be with the battery life is not a long as I would like it to be but there are ways to get your battery to last longer. (i.e. turn off BT or Wi-Fi when not in use). Also, I am not a big fan of the 2 wire set up on the latest Palm products. 2 ports on the bottom of the device, one for hotsync and the other for power. What ever happened to the cradle? If your USB port supports 500 mA power you can "trickle charge" your T|X through it's USB cable and not the power charger. Word to the wise though..."trickle charge" takes up to 9 hrs vs 3 hrs on the power charger. The other 2 items I highly recommend is the hard case to protect your purchase and a 1 or 2 GB SD card so you can work and download from you Wi-Fi connections. So, if you don't need to be connected all the time and don't want the monthly cost of a data plan on a smartphone like the 700w or Motorola Q but still want processing power, internet connectivity, and a robust email program for all your email needs then this sleek, beautiful, handheld is for you. Palm TX

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 6, 2006 | 34 out of 36 found this Palm TX review helpful

Pros: Built in DocsToGo7, built in MS-Outlook support, built in networking file share

Cons: Unable to switch to/from browser without restarting app, Power switch must be mashed in - rather than just pressed, should include a hard case

My employer gave me a Palm m125 two years ago - it worked ok, but had very limited memory (rapid intro into SD cards) and had the AAA batteries. After complaining to myself for a year, about always losing my data at battery change time, I started loo...king for a new PDA. The Lifedrive looked interesting, but was a bit over the top - and I'm just not into Treo's or Blackberrys. So then I looked at the TX. Native WiFi and BT, Docs to go (been using that with the m125), and support for Outlook (been using Chapura) - got my attention. The supersize screen, with rotation, is a huge plus - and the colors... wow (not an option on the m125). The various reviews mention that it is intended to support 40 minutes of active use a day - I've gone higher than that - but the battery does get a little low - so battery life is an issue. The WiFi turns off when idle for a time, so that saves the battery too. It beats the pants off the m125 - I'm really happy with it. For anyone else in the public safety sector, look into buying direct from palm - they offer a 25% discount to first responders - wish I'd known that before I went to Circuit City. Read more Less

    Unexpected!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 28, 2005 | 22 out of 23 found this Palm TX review helpful

Pros: setup a snap - wireless & e-mail easy... web browser a nice surprise

Cons: backward compatability - some old fav apps/games not supported

Upped from a Tungsten T - I have used Palm for years. I use this for contacts, calender, notes, and to combat conference call boredom (games). Now I can add e-mail and web browsing to things to do. MP3, clips & pics on my 512Mb SD card gives me enter...tainment choices and storage for needed docs. Bluetooth to fetch pics from the phone - I may try to network my laptop or use the dialer feature sometime. BTW - improved contacts & calender layout is a nice touch. The screen size & resolution is great - too bad old apps won't size to the new screen. With the sharpness and clarity of the dispay I can bore more folks w/ pictures saved to the T/X. Hate the screen protectors - I'll have to try that again and somehow avoid the air bubbles. Read more Less

The Palm that has to come

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 28, 2006 | 16 out of 18 found this Palm TX review helpful

    Pros: A lot of funcionality

Cons: Little fragile to put in the pocket.

I had had Palm since always and I had go seen how sometimes a model have something cool where in the next model is missed. But this Palm have everything. Full connectivity, Wi-fi, Bluetooth and infrared. You dial a phone just with one hand, select th...e contact, aim your phone and the Palm dial for you. Adding pictures is very easy as it help you creating albums select storing in the internal memory or SD card and creating slideshows that are the perfect size to looks great the big screen it have. Movies are the same. You just grab a video file and it is convert to fit perfectly with an ok speed. It accepts WMV with no problem. It is easy to load programs in the SD card and they work smooth. It also came with a lot of very useful programs. Blazer. the browser allow you to download files from internet and save the images. To finish I can tell that all the OS is design very carefully and it does things just as the user would expect. It have a little bar with all the most important functions. The design is elegant and thin. The price is very good for what it is. Read more Less

    Resets

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 28, 2006 | 10 out of 12 found this Palm TX review helpful

    Pros: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

Cons: Need more memory,Resets to often

This is a great Palm, I really like the wi-Fi I can access the internet anywhere in my home. The only drawback is due to the small screen on the internet but then if you had a bigger screen you may as well get a laptop. I enjoy using the Bluetooth to... print files on my printer. Except for the the palm resetting once in a while it's a great Palm device. Read more Less

    Great PDA for the $

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 8, 2006 | 8 out of 8 found this Palm TX review helpful

Pros: Better than expected wifi range

Cons: Reboots every once in a while

Ive owned several pocket pc PDA's and after picking up the palm T/X all i can say is "what was I thinking???" Palm OS is a superior operating system and the learning curve is not steep at all.

Miserable quality, fails within a year.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 9, 2007 | 7 out of 7 found this Palm TX review helpful

Pros: Longer batter life than earlier models.

Cons: Screens fail, digitizer fails, random reboots cause file loss, poor support. More.

A hardened Palm user, I am looking elsewher for a PDA. I am not alone in finding that thescreen develops thumb sized dead spots in less than a year, that the "digitizer", which calibrates the screen so that it reads a tap where it lands (on... "open" rather than "delete", for instance) becomes unusable, and that unintended resets cause entire files to disappear. There are a number of secondary companies which produce both hardware and software applications to address issues which Palm ignores from screen drift to early part failure. Palm users have sites explaining how to repair failed parts, as Palm service is so expensive that you might as well buy a new one. A new Palm TX is quite all right, but when they begin to fail in less than six months, they are no deal. Before putting a couple of hundred dollars down for what should be an excellent tool you will do to do an Internet searc for TX and Problem. Read more Less

    Pros: Portabilty, Easy to use.

Cons: None that I have foiund yet.

After looking for the perfect Palm, this has to be it. Being the skeptic that I am, I could not wait to try it out. The software installs faster The wi-fi works effortlessly with out much set-up. So... if you want a Palm that does everything except ...scratch your back this is it. Read more Less

    TXPDA

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 13, 2006 | 5 out of 5 found this Palm TX review helpful

    Pros: Nice features

Cons: Needs to be reset if left more than hour, even though often on a cradle. Works fine after reset - then needs to be reset again

Very dissapoined in this Palm. This is the 3rd Palm that I have had in a number of years. The Palm is great when it works. It is approximately 4 months old and what started out as a wonderful PDA, is now miserable. A new Palm should not have to be re...set as often as this one. My son bought one in Denver and has the same problem - his is a month older than mine. My PDA is a business tool - it definately did not meet my expectations. I would not reccommend this Palm. It has many nice features, but - a dead Palm is a bad Palm, even if can be revived - I have had to reset it many times today. Read more Less
