Pros: Looks Decent
Cons: VERY bad sound quality
I bought this cd player mainly for the looks, and because I thought for $55 it would at least sound ok. I wasn't expecting pioneer sound quality by any means, but this thing made portable cd-players plugged in with a cassette adapter sound nice. It has NO low-level sound at all. My friend has a Wal-Mart cd player he bought for $45, and you can at least hear a little bit of bass out it. I am not a picky person, and for a couple days I TRIED to deal with the crappy sound, but I couldn't take it anymore and had to return the item. There are a few bad things to this unit other than no low level sound. One is it has no track memory. When you play a cd and then turn your car off, it won't remember where it was on the cd when you get back. Also the LOUD button, does not do anything. When reading in the 2 page manual, I found out that the loud button only amplifies low-level sounds at low volume levels, I guess this explains why it does absolutely nothing when you have the volume at a normal, comfortable level. Speaking of the manual, it's barely readable, the grammer in this thing is ridiculous! I highly reccomend you DON'T buy this product, or anything from PYLE for that matter, because my dad bought a cd player from him, and it also had pretty bad sound, not nearly as bad as this one though. For the same price I promise you can get something much better. The only good thing about this player, is it looks decent, but other than that, you don't have to be picky to realize the sound is worthless, and isn't that the main point of having one, to be able to listen to the music in it's entirety without parts of the song missing?
Pros: Inexpensive, sounds good
Cons: Can't handle CD-RWs, Clock doesn't work well
This Pyle was a replacement for a previous Pioneer CD receiver that I had stolen from car. It sounds just as good as Pioneer and was easy to install. The only real problems I've had with it are that I sometimes get static on it, but this hardly occurs. If you get it, just reset it and drive around awhile and it sounds like normal again. The clock on mine doesn't seem to work well. The time gets further and further behind. Then again, I care more about playing CDs, which is what this player excels at. The laser on it isn't up to par with Pioneer, Sony, Blaupunkt, or other top end players, but it does ok. Only thing it has difficulty with is CD-RWs. Unfortunately, nowadays, you're better off going with a Pyle than with a Pioneer or Clarion, since Pyle is relatively cheap if it gets stolen. If you live in rural area with little crime, I'd pass on this and go for Pioneer. If you live in a city like I do, go with this player. You won't be disappointed.
