"Fulson's Blues (Bad Luck and Trouble)" and "San Francisco Blues" are the highlights of this collection drawn from Lowell Fulson's earliest recordings for independent West Coast labels like Big Town and Swing Time. Both of these songs are gentle classics, with Fulson's clear, unadorned vocals and guitar runs meshing wonderfully, and a lot of this early material, recorded between 1946 and 1948, falls into that same groove.
