Pros: Some hard to find songs on cd

Cons: Sound quality on 30% of cd was unlistenable

Me and my wife are big fans of the music from the 20's and 30's...thus, we'll seek out cd's that contain songs from this era. We bought both volumes 1 & 2 of this particular series, and the results are somewhat bittersweet. We were able to obtain many songs which we didn't already possess on cd, BUT a good chunk of the cd's were unlistenable. I'm not talking about the average cracks and whistles associated with 78RPM records...I mean that the person who did the audio transfer did a poor job. The sound quality can vary between decent to muddled during one song; as if the the person doing the audio transfer was recklessly turning every knob on the sound board for kicks. If you want to check out music from this era, stick with the Nipper cd's and the Roaring Twenties box set from Intersound.
