    Pros: Love Every Single Song!

Cons: None! Are U Kidding Me?

Mizz T-Boz, Mizz LeftEye, & Mizz Chilli made their unique stamp in the door with this menagerie of goodness. "Oooooooh, On The TLC Tip" showcases 3 different women with one thing in common: how to upstart a party! Created by Pebbles, thes...e 3 different souls bring to us hip-hop, dance, r&b, and house all in one good ass album. The opener "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" was a hit! Talking about that they ain't to proud to beg for the skins. Nice! "Shock Dat Monkey" is a cute song about telling your man about himself. WORK! "Hat 2 Da Back" works for me with their funky music. One of my favorite songs is "Somethin' U Wanna Know". That's a song about instead of listening to the horse's ass, u should go to the source. "Baby, Baby, Baby" is another one of my songs that deals with the love of your life. All these songs rock. With the productions of LA, Babyface, Daryl Simmons, Kayo, Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri and Marley Marl, they showcased these women as hip-hop funksters. But, what makes the album so palpable is the background vocalists that they had. Debra Killings (main backup vocalist), Tye-V (Somethin' U Wanna Know), Mary Brown & Marsha McClurkin(That's The Way We Like Em), Dionne Farris (Bad By Myself) and Kayo (Shock Dat Monkey) all brought a little something to their album. If you like new inventiveness of music and like to get down, then cop this! Grade: A++ Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Ooooooohhh...On the TLC Tip

  • All Music Guide

TLC's debut album, Ooooooohhh...on the TLC Tip, established the trio's image and unorthodox fashion sense, which at this point was based on baggy, brightly colored clothes and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes' trademark condom. Some accused them of borrowing their look from Bell Biv DeVoe, and their femalepositive, prosafesex attitudes from SaltnPepa, but TLC has the boundless enthusiasm to make it all convincingly their own. What they don't always have are the songs to pull off a consistent album. The most infectious songs are naturally the singles: "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" is bouncy, catchy, and sexually assertive, and "What About Your Friends" is an equally danceable meditation on true friendship. The charttopping ballad "BabyBabyBaby" is typically wellcrafted Babyface, if a little bythenumbers. Some of the album tracks keep the sense of fun going, but others fall flat not that they're bad, they just aren't that memorable. On the plus side, Left Eye gets a lot of space for her distinctively nasa...l, girlish rapping, and the entire group drops rhymes on "Das da Way We Like 'Em." Although it's uneven, the best moments of On the TLC Tip deserved their popularity, and set the stage for the group's blockbuster success the next time out. - Steve Huey, All Music Guide Read more Less

TLC was one of the biggest-selling female RB groups of all time, riding a blend of pop, hip-hop, and urban soul to superstardom during the '90s. Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas managed to appeal equally to pop and RB audiences, blending catchy hooks and bouncy funk with a sassy, sexy attitude.
