Publisher Notes: Online College

  • Have you ever wanted to do something and tried to find information on the subject of interest, but could not find any information to help yourself? That was my dilemma when I embarked on my online college degree. It did not stop me, but it would have been nice to have more information to base my decision on, and I happen to be one of those people that once I start something I rarely stop until it is finished. So it was with my MSCIS degree program. This book was written for people just like me that like to make informed decisions about major life endeavors, such as getting a degree. People that invest in education commit themselves, their finances, their time, and most importantly the people in their lives that are affected by their decision-their families. Sound bites delivered by the universities do not give an accurate picture of what you can expect, or what is expected of you in an online degree program. This book does! "Online College" will walk you through every step of what it is like to be in an online class - day by day. This book points out the pitfalls that you can expect to encounter, and points out methods you can use to avert them. It also helps you to make an informed decision about who is most likely to succeed in an online environment, and who is not! Obviously this book cannot make a decision for you, but it will give you a realistic idea of what your life will be like in an online class. I knew many people that were taking more than one class at a time, successfully! While I considered it, I had all I wanted to do holding down a full-time job, spending time with my family, and taking one class at a time. My honey-do chores were on hold for two years basically, oruntil I had a bit of time in-between classes. Like water we all seek our own level, as you will. If you want a realistic picture of life in an online class, then this book is for you. You can also find more information at www.virtualcollege.info.
