Nice album, slightly better than Life Beyond L.A., this album shows a stronger side of pop Ambrosia that is more respectable. The title of the album should be an indication to anyone out there that Ambrosia had no choice but to sell out, but there ar...e some great tunes on it. Notably, Livin' on my Own (which I am sure upon first listening would make you believe that it was originally a Doobie Brothers tune.) Shape I'm In is another standout and Kamakaze was a track that gave good indication about where 80's pop was heading. It is true that the band had accepted themselves as a pop band. Too bad the media still didn't get the idea as they were still labeling them as a Emerson, Lake and Palmer offshoots. Idiots.. If you enjoy the Michael McDonald Doobies period (Minute by Minute), there should be no reason why you shouldn't enjoy this album as well. Of course this was Ambrosia's biggest seller to date, with two songs Biggest Part of Me and You're the Only Woman cracking at least the top 15 on the Billboard singles chart. Not a bad starter album for the uninitiated. However when you compare this album to their debut five years before , they sound like a different band altogether. If you found out about this underrated band due to one of their songs on the radio, I recommend this is the album you get. However if you found out about Ambrosia through say a Zappa fan, there are not to many inspiring moments I am afraid on this album or Life Beyond L.A. Pick up the debut, than Somewhere I've Never Travelled in that order. Better yet, if you have the money, shell out thirty bucks and buy Road Island which was the next and last studio album by the band. It is a return to form and sounds as good as anything Ambrosia did from their origins of the debut. I am still waiting for Warner Bros. to release Road Island domestically. Until then, either the import CD will have to do, or hunt Road Island down in a used record shop. You will have no problem finding One-Eighty which Ambrosia biggest selling studio album. Good for what it is...In a perfect world much to David Pack's dismay, I would be happy not to hear Biggest Part of Me for the rest of my lifetime. Read more Less

The group was discovered in 1971 by Los Angeles Philharmonic conductor Zubin Mehta, who featured Ambrosia as part of a so-called... Read more
