    Pros: Very good cd

Cons: Perry should of made more solo cd's

I saw this tour at the Keystone, in Berkley,California in 83. Joe and the band performed really well that night. It was just like the video, a club atmosphere. This cd has always been my favorite of Perry's work. Its has same jams. If you like pe...rry's solo work pick this one up. cheers from Sacramento, Ca. Ty Read more Less

The Joe Perry Project's final album, isn't as good as the first. There are a few tracks that do stand out however. There is a cover of T.Rex's Bang a Gong.

  • All Music Guide

The third and final release from the Joe Perry Project, 1983's Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker, was a completely blah and uninspired work. It featured a whole new backing band for Perry, the Project's third lead singer (a new frontman per album) 'Cowboy' Mach Bell, as well bassist Danny Hargrove, and drummer Joe Pet. The new lineup couldn't light a fire under Perry like the original Project could, and when you add a bunch of predictable compositions to the mix, you got the weakest Project release yet. Bell's vocals would have sounded perfectly in an early 80's, glammedup heavy metal band, but not alongside the raw and gritty rock n' roll that usually accompanies Joe Perry. Judging form the band photos on the album, the group was trying desperately to fit in with the thenblossoming glam metal scene (poofed up hair, makeup, etc.). A few tracks will be appreciated by hardcore Perry fans, such as the album's only video, "Black Velvet Pants," plus the title track and select others. After th...e indifferent Once A Rocker, Always A Rocker, it was completely understandable why Perry ditched the Project and returned to his original compadres, Aerosmith, in 1984. - Greg Prato, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Joe Perry

Along with Kiss' Ace Frehley, Aerosmith's Joe Perry was responsible for inspiring thousands of teenagers to pick up guitars and start rocking n' rolling in the 1970s and beyond. Born September 10, 1950 in Lawrence, MA, Perry got his first taste of rock n' roll at the ripe old age of 6, when neighbors turned him on to such early rock nuggets as "Rock Around the Clock," "... Read more
