Robert Rodriguez returns with the mythic guitar-slinging hero, El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas), in the final installment of the Mariachi/Desperado trilogy. The saga continues as El Mariachi makes his way across a rugged landscape on the blood trail of Barrillo (Willem Dafoe), a cartel kingpin with one last score to settle who is planning a coup d’etat against the president of Mexico. Enlisted by Sands (Johnny Depp), a corrupt CIA agent, El Mariachi demands retribution, and the adventure begins against a backdrop of revolution, greed, and revenge.

    El Mariachi Who?

Pros: Tons of Action, Good Actors.

Cons: Very little Selma and overplayed action

From the start the plot looked week and boring. The action kicked in and was good for the most part if it was the Hispanic version of the Matrix. I watched the entire movie out of sheer curiosity hoping that the ending would make it worth while, of... course it was not. Selma was in the movie only as a flashback memory of El Mariachi. Bottom line Poor plot, mediocre action, entertaining and worth watching only as an old release from your local video store. Read more Less

    Pros: good action, plot-great visuals

Cons: too much Depp, not enough Banderas

'Mexico' is a good action flick, though not quite as good as 'Desperado'. The energy of the movie is great, as are the visuals. Too much of Johnny Depp, because he was the 'it' boy at that time, bogs the movie down a little bi...t. Otherwise, Robert Rodriquez gives us another slam-bang fable about the Mariachi. I highly recomend this film. Read more Less
