Suprized that no review mentions Sergio's other film "Once upon a time in the West" an equally great film that shares the same music. What a cast!! and great filmwork. Must be seen several times to really appreciate it all

Very good movie. If you like movies about NYC of times past, this is the movie to see. This was Jennifer Connelly's first movie, starring as a child.

This movie has many things going for it. The acting is very good, the score is outstanding, the set design is very good, and the length of 229 minutes doesn't seem long until you check your watch as the ending credits go by. Much of the credit of the impact of this movie belongs to both Loene, and DiNiro. I have seen this movie several times, and each time I see it I pick up another piece of plot that I missed the last.

On the more sublime side of gangsterism, this film sets out more to dissect the anatomy of friendships rather than glorify the macre violence related to the early days of organized crime.It succeeds, miraculously telling the tale of an age when death was not so much seen as a sorrowful event, but a badge of honor to be shared with your friends.Thanks for the memories Sergio.

This movie is one of the greatest movies made in it's time with great actors like Robert De Niro and James Woods. It's about 4 friends in the early 1900's and as they grow up in the 30's while prohibition they sell alchohol and make a living on it. it's truly a great epic and if you love Robert De Niro I strongly suggest you get your hands on this film.

I love this movie,very excellent,one of my favorite top 5 movies ever made.Mr. Robert Deniro is the movie,he is a great actor beyond others.It's a shame that it is not in DVD yet,i will wait for it on DVD,it could be the 4hrs.50min.movie..Ma3trx6

What a high to end your career. Sergio Leone's epic masterpiece tells Harry Grey's incredible story through dazzling camerawork, brilliant acting and a haunting score.
The story is about two friends who pass the early decades of the 20th Century at a time of prohibition which ends in betrayal and greed. Truly one of the greatest films of all time which deserves all it's praise. And more!Was this review helpful? Yes - Nounique.a true credit to all involved .
a truly unique picture.once upon a life in america's noodle character,played by robert deniro could not have been acted by anyone else but him.all those involved where casted perfectly for each individual role.mr.deniro as usual takes the cake.one of the great actor of our times.could i have a full list of the cast.thank you.nestor viera.

This is an epic adventure of life on the New York streets through the decades. De Niro is once again excellent but so are the young kids who play the scallies of yound De-Niro and his friends. An chilling sound track backs up the drama throughout. Who said Sergio Leone could only handle horses and guns.
