    John Legend brings us great music "Once Again"

    Pros: Everything. This is just a great cd.

    Cons: Nothing at all.

    Apparently John Legend recognized that there was no way he could match what he did on his 2004 release ?Get Lifted?. So instead of trying to create a watered down sequel, Legend went the opposite direction. The vibe on Lifted is totally different fr...om that on his new release ?Once Again?. He left the Neo-Soul feeling of Lifted and went with a more R&B vibe for Again. The only phrase to accurately describe Again is, simply amazing. Everything from the lyrics to the music is smoother and more melodic. The only thing you could even argue is missing from the CD is an up-tempo catchy song like Lifted?s ?Used To Love U?. And you won?t notice that until you?ve played the CD about three times. Simply put, if you enjoy good music this CD is a must have. Read more Less

    Pros: Great listening music, very nostalgic, sound of the sixties and seventies, john has done it again.

    Cons: May take some time to get use to, if you’re expecting the same sound from the first CD

    I tend to love a great artist, not just a good artist but a great one. The difference is a great one is usually miss- understood or over looked!     Show me is the most compassionate song on this album.He has open my eyes on the life of Yaguine Koita where he tells the story of a storeaway. But not just a storeaway but a young boy living with the dream of a good education. Who died trying to get ...it.     What can I say? I LOVE this album. This album is definitely one of my favorites of all time. John Legend is truly a modern day Marvin Gaye, and his music is reminiscent of a time when music didn't have to be crass or tacky to be good. He's se...xy without being trashy, and could easily be a man that you would love even if you were mad at him.     John Legend Impresses Again

    Pros: Smooth lyrics, great beats, all around phenominal album.

    Cons: Some of the songs sound similar, but that's not exactly a bad thing.

    I am personally just starting to get into John Legend after discovering him through songs he did with one of my favorite artists in Kanye West. I heard John Legend described as a modern day Marvin Gaye. I feel that description is fitting and accurat...e in that his ballads have strong themes of love throughout, and some can be considered very romantic. However, he also delivers variety in his lyrics and makes CD's that beg to be listened to many times over. I recommend this CD to anybody that's a fan of hip/hop, rap, r&b, soul, jazz, etc. It fits all those genres and more. Read more Less

    but I'm doing it again

    ok i just got this album and I have really been playing it allllllll day ! I love this album John has tapped into that easy listening that was so prevalent in R&B 70's love ballads and given it a modern twist with the lyrics. Don't believe me...? Listen to trck#6 as John lays out a beautiful lovemaking session at the park......... I love this song....it make me feel light & carefree ...that feeling you get when U are in the beginnings of love ...and he managed to capture it thru music the whole album is BOSS but my faves are definately TRCK# 2,6,8,10,12 number 8 really gets to me .... it's funny how music can transport you and minister to you in life...this song does that 4 me. I felt like he broke into my diary on this one. The music itself is something by itself. It's back to the full bodied sound ....this is music that U can appreciate, where more than a keyboard was utilized...u hear violins, flutes, horns, piano any serious musician could appreciate this album Mr. Legend definately isn't having any of that supposed sophmore jinx !!     I've enjoyed John Legend ever since he came out with his first CD but Once Again has brought my admiration of his work to a whole new level. The music and lyrics are original and wonderful.     It's Growing on Me

    Pros: Melodic and More Mature than typical R&B Fare

    I have to admit that I'm getting into Legend's second album. It's a mature series of songs that I am quite surprised at. The music and lyrics sound, strangely enough, like they are coming from someone far older and more refined. It's ...not the typical bubble gum, thrown together album that we've seen in R&B for some time. I'll have to get over my own issues with Legend. They are mostly personal - just something about the vibe I get - but I will admit he is a consummate musician, and should get his due. My favorite - Where Did My Baby Go. Read more Less
