    Fantastic Betrayal of love tunes.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 2, 2000 | 1 out of 1 found this Older review helpful

This album is full of rather ‘Down Beat’ tunes(except for ‘Fast Love’of course),This album includes poetic, mature & Jazzy lyrics. Definitely different from his ‘Faith’ days, and George depends solely on him self on the making of this album, T...his Album is for the broken hearted. Read more Less

    Older and Definitely Upper

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 7, 2007

    Pros: Contrast, Lyrics,

    Cons: n/a

After a six year absense, George Michael came back with his third album (not including Wham!) Older. With eleven tracks of contrast, lyrical and melodic masterpieces, he captures every emotion with his voice. You can definitely hear his painful trage...dies through songs like Jesus to a Child and You Have Been Loved. But the real sparks occur with FastLove (a fast tempo hip shaker that lights up every dance floor in Europe), Spinning the Wheel, Move On, and Star People. George Michaels has shows his evolution from young man (Faith years) to a true mature musician. It's time to get up to get down. Read more Less

What A Breath Of Fresh Air In 1995

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 4, 2006

    Pros: Musically Brilliant

    Cons: NOT Kiddie Pop lol

In 1995's musical world of Hansen, gangsta rap and alternative (read:grunge) that were dominating radio at the time I personally hailed the return of George Micheael, one of the most talented British tunesmith's of the 1980's.And to my surp...rise HAD HE GOT GOOOOOD!All one has to do is whach the VH1 'Behind The Music' to know of the motivation behind this CD's personal, instrospective lyrics-George had been battling record companies, struggled with his sexuality and lost the love of his life to AIDS.'Older' is about just that-age,wisdom,experienc
e,pain, love and relief. At first George sorrowfully likens "Jesus To A Child" before thinking he's getting "Older" and then deciding "It Really Doesn't Matter".Musically the style is more softly balladic-with light jazz and lounge overtones and extremely good taste (except for light drum programming) but George makes time for some funkiness on the wonderful hit 'Fastlove" and the chunky "Move On".Although this is slung around far too often 'Older' is George Michael's equivilant of Stevie Wonder's coming of age music in the early 70's-no flash,no gimmicks.Michael is shown dressed without flair (and hair) and much of the music is sparce and direct.A rebirth of classic pop composing and thrill of innovation therin if I ever heard one this CD was a huge commercial flop. And in that time that meant BUY IT NOW as far as I was concerned. And as far as 'Older' goes it hasnt aged a day and never will.

I think this cd shows the neverending cycle of self-awareness that occurs in one's life. I am so glad that he has let his fans inside his soul.

The man, the myth, the ledgend!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 9, 2001

Simply stated, this album shows that George Michael is a master of his craft. From his days of Wham! to today, he has kept one thing consistant: the man has talent. Having written, arranged and produced most of his work through-out his career, the m...usic he makes is definently his voice. And with Older, fans can see the subtle change from his early pop days to an easy jazz in a smokey club type sound, all the while keeping the constant of having written brillant songs to go along with his creative productions. This album is a Must-Have for anyone tired of meaningless lyrics from singers that can't spell the word TALENT. Read more Less
