This might be the best albumn ever recorded. I know fans of other fans throw that around, like ridiculous Limp Biskit fans proclaiming one of their albumns to be "the best ever", but as a rock music junkie, I consider my opinion well thought out. The musical experience on OK Computer was totally original at the time and has never been duplicated. Many Radiohead fans prefer the Bends, and while a classic record, OK Computer is able to cross polinate rock music with electronica to create a musical experience completely original. "Paranoid Android" is like a rock symphony, with several sections creating various shifts in the mood. Exit Music (For a Movie) may be the most haunting song ever recorded. I get chills on my back every time I hear it. Karma Police has a great hooky piano part, the last radio friendly Radiohead song (for whatever that's worth). My favorite song is "No Surprises", with it's happy sounding melody flooded with brooding, drepressingly true lyrics. This is the Radiohead masterpiece. ...

Possibly the greatest effort by Radiohead. It's one of those records that you are captivated by. It grabs you by your stomache and pulls you in. No skiping required, not one bad song. Put it on, sit back, and be floored...
Pros: no pros
Cons: is this U2 or coldplay
coming from radiohead i really expected something more complex. evenmore after all the hipe about this album. sadly its just another pile of "music" that blends in with wathever u want to blend it with. and will be forgotten pretty soon.
This sounds like a mix of U2, coldplay and crapisonic. and im not saying that because is good.
who wants to make a band. we just need to record 11 songs and sell.
Pros: NONE
Cons: ALL

I honestly don't know how they did it, but this album is an incredible work of art.
Radiohead is up there with Tool as the best band still playin today. OK Computer is a masterpiece, packed with tons of great tunes. York has such a unique and powerful voice, and the music backs his voice perfectly. the only thing that coulda made this CD better was more great songs, cuz u can never have enough Radiohead.
First of all Porcupine Tree's "In Absentia" will be released on September 24th. And secondly, it amazes me how people like Dreamflick can make a statement that Radiohead need to learn how to rock again?! You know what, you don't just need guitars to rock. There have been numberous ROCK bands in the last thirty years that did not use guitars and were awe inspiring. OKCOMPUTER works on both counts. If you prefer their more guitar oriented albums, then no sweat. You have The Bends and Pablo Honey. But the current Radiohead certainly have not lost their roots...
this is a very fine album. And I love subteranian homesick alien the best. Some damn good songs on the album. This was the really last good album for Radiohead. They need to get back to their roots, and learn how to rock again..
to those who dont like radiohead and their intense climaxes and inovative slower moments, you are all jerks. OK is my first radiohead album. i started off cumming over and over to 'creep' then i finally started my collection of radiohead masterpeices. this is the first of the three that i have at the moment. if this album wasnt any good, i wouldnt be raving the 5 that i am. absolutely the best ever!
A truely amazing disc. I do like The Bends better, however.
I had always heard of OK Computer being revolutionary and groundbreaking which made me buy the album a couple of months ago. I do have to agree, but there is so much more to this album. I think it might possibly be the only album to actually seem to have a soul, or some kind of consciousness. When I first listened to it, I really didn't understand a lot of the concepts, but I still liked it. As I listened more and more, I finally began having visuals in my brain, of cold office buildings with many doors and elevators. It seems to me that the central theme of the album is escape from a world in which we are trapped by our own machines, obligations, and inventions. This is highly apparent on most tracks on the record. I had orignally thought that "Let Down" seemed to be a song that marveled at the technology of today, but on further inspection seemed to be about escaping all of these things.
The album's sound quality is amazing, mixed with nice guitar parts, strange electronic sampling, and interesting drum and bass loops. But the main force behind the album is none other than Thom Yorke's vocals. I mean how much emotion can you have on one record? Just when you think that he couldn't have outdone his highly exceptional work on "The Bends", he does. So is OK Computer one of the greatest records ever made? I think it depends on how much the record means to you on a personal level. I will say that I have to say that it is. The album has made me look at myself in a different light. I look around my room right now, I see I am surrounded by "possesions"...and it makes me a little more paranoid that: am I in control of my life?
Even at the end of the album, Radiohead seems to still leave the listener on edge, this is apparent in the inter booklet, hidden in the credits it says, "we hope you are ok. thankyou for listening".
you write fairly well and seem to have good enough taste to have reviewed okc at all, but the pattern seems to be you have no patience for slow songs/sections. To me a pity, you're missing some of the best parts. I only say this in hope that you will one day change your mind, perhaps a few more listens.

Airbag

Great buzzsaw guitars and looplike drumbeat and wacky electronic noises and effects, with Thom Yorke's grainy vocal over the top. Fabulous opener.
2
Paranoid Android
90
Five marks subtracted for the utterly boring slow section in the middle (I always hold down the 'fast-forward skip' button on the cd when it gets to that part, and fast forward to the crazy bits!), but apart from that, it's one of the best rock recordings ever made. Cute video too.
3
Subterranean Homesick Alien
74
Nice chorus section ("..uptight") and lovely guitar arrangement.
4
Exit Music (For A Film)
78
An astounding mood recording, feelings of sadness and despair with sounds of waves washing in the background, along with overdriven fuzz bass. Fantastic 'progressive rock'. As the song title says - it would definitely sound great in a film!
5
Let Down
78
This song seems to "come alive" in the second half, maybe the drumming becomes more purposeful and earnest; I'm still trying to work out how they raise the song 'up a gear' without doing anything too radical.
6
Karma Police
85
A great song, but I would have written the section "this is what you'd get" much differently...it has no forward momentum in that section, drags the rest of the song behind, much like how "Paranoid Android" has a pretentiously slow section too.
7
Fitter Happier
53
Stephen Hawking sings guest vocals :-))
8
Electioneering
66
Upbeat rocker.
9
Climbing Up the Walls
75
A haunting melody.
10
No Surprises
79
Lovely xylophone melody, played by lanky guitarist Jonny Greenwood. Tune harks back to the 1960s.
11
Lucky

Atmospheric ballad....I don't listen to this song very often....doesn't do much for me, but it's ok I guess...Radiohead fans would love it, I guess.

The Tourist

No, sorry, I find this song very very boring with absolutely nothing going for it whatsoever. It's very dull....it's trying to be another 'atmospheric' song and having guitars shimmering around the staggering vocal.....no sorry, it's not my 'cup of tea', I don't like it. 20 marks for the effort of putting such a song together and going to the bother of making overblown arrangements for such a "nothing melody" LOL. It's such a shame that OK Computer finishes with a couple of dull songs - otherwise it is quite a good album.
Average song score for the album: 70 / 100
The greatest British album of all time, by the greatest British band of all time. This album marks the beginning of their journey into modern-experimental rock, which has been nothing but a masterful journey for this group. Tracks like exit music and let down reveal their raw emotional power, while lyrics on tracks such as karma police and fitter happier, express the true hipocrisy of the society we live in. Can't go wrong.
This is undeniably the best album of the 90's. Radiohead has always been the one that paves the way into modern music and this is no exception. No words can describe the true potential of this album.
If you were to buy one Radiohead album, this would be it. This goes down as one of the greatest albums of all time (and of the last century) without a doubt. But how come my friends (who like Westlife) slag me off just for liking Radiohead?
By far. Radiohead, composes an album that should be on the list of top 10 albums of all time. While each song stands alone, it is the quality of the larger more composite picture that really blows the mind. A neccesary album for everyone... pick it up... you won't stop playing it.
