This might be the best albumn ever recorded. I know fans of other fans throw that around, like ridiculous Limp Biskit fans proclaiming one of their albumns to be "the best ever", but as a rock music junkie, I consider my opinion well thought out. The musical experience on OK Computer was totally original at the time and has never been duplicated. Many Radiohead fans prefer the Bends, and while a classic record, OK Computer is able to cross polinate rock music with electronica to create a musical experience completely original. "Paranoid Android" is like a rock symphony, with several sections creating various shifts in the mood. Exit Music (For a Movie) may be the most haunting song ever recorded. I get chills on my back every time I hear it. Karma Police has a great hooky piano part, the last radio friendly Radiohead song (for whatever that's worth). My favorite song is "No Surprises", with it's happy sounding melody flooded with brooding, drepressingly true lyrics. This is the Radiohead masterpiece. ... ...

| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Using the textured soundscapes of The Bends as a launching pad, Radiohead delivered another startlingly accomplished set of modern guitar rock with OK Computer. The anthemic guitar heroics present on Pablo Honey and even The Bends are nowhere to be heard here. Radiohead have stripped away many of the obvious elements of guitar rock, creating music that is subtle and textured, yet still has the feeling of rock roll. Even at its most adventurous -- such as the complex, multi-segmented "Paranoid Android" -- the band is tight, melodic, and muscular, and Thom Yorke's voice effortlessly shifts from a sweet falsetto to vicious snarls. It's a thoroughly astonishing demonstration of musical virtuosity, and becomes even more impressive with repeated listens, which reveal subtleties like electronica rhythms, eerie keyboards, odd time signatures, and complex syncopations. Yet all of this would simply be showmanship if the songs weren't strong in themselves, and OK Computer is filled with moody masterpieces, from the shimmering "Subterranean Homesick Alien" and the sighing "Karma Police" to the gothic crawl of "Exit Music (For a Film)." radiohead is the best band, if not most original band around. why someone would try to make this cd look like anything less than a classic is beyond me. the beauty of it is that it is totally not mainstream. in fact it is so far above mainstream that mainstream fans are overwhelmed to a point where they think the cd is less than the true quality it is. buy the cd, love it, and share it with friends.
