O Brother, Where Art Thou? CD

The song from this CD, "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow", is a soul-stirring song. The words alone are thought-provoking, but the song's tune takes you on a musical story up & down valleys. On this CD, there are two versions of this song. One is more ...has more instruments & additional singers, but are both great. They bring back that old time country sound. A lot of complex harmony and delicate melodies. They use a lot of madoline, guitar, and fiddle which really makes up country of a by-passed era. Read more Less

Music Like it Ought to be

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 17, 2001 | 1 out of 1 found this O Brother, Where Art Thou? review helpful

The best thing for me about this album is that people are finally learning about one of the greatest musicians of our time-Alison Krause. She has been around for almost 15 years now, but stays in the background doing incredible music. Now that she is... one of the featured artists on an album that is selling, maybe more people will realize what I have known for years, no ones voice or music compares. Her voice is that of an angels and the music matches that lofty voice. Other great unknown bluegrass musicians contribute as well like Lilian Welch in a duet with Alison. This CD, without the assistance of any radio play in any format is proving that great music can still sell. Read more Less

17 yrs old and i love this

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 23, 2004

Pros: feel good... harmony is rediculously good

Cons: too many constant sorrows on the cd

i'm 17 and listen to rap, and i love this music. I just watched the movie in English class, and the music is just so rich and the harmonies are out of this world. it helps if you have watched the movie, rather than just listening to the music, ...because the premise behind some of the songs is awesome. Great movie, awesome soundtrack Read more Less

Boy, aren't you just Mr./Mrs. Positive****!!! The album and movie are both great. It is not supposed to be a great new movie, with all kinds of special effects. Big deal, I like it anyway!!!!!****Sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell, while you were ...busy putting down albums. Read more Less

    Fantastic

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 5, 2002

The soundtrack to 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' is a fantastic album. I have to be honnest, I don't own it but I'm singing 'Down In The River To Pray' and I decided I HAD to see the movie. Yes, I was blown away by the movie but I don't think the movie... would have been nearly as good if the music hadn't been such a huge part of it. The harmonies are so tight and soulful. I wish out Choir could put the same kind of soul into our songs that are in the songs on this album. Regardless of the fact that the people who sang on this album are professionals, it just went together perfectly and it just sounded so natural. This album has turned me onto country. It doesn't even have a cheesy sort of country sound though. Hopefully you can get the clips and listen (because I can't!) because 30 seconds of 'Down In the River...' or any other song on there will just brighten your day. Read more Less
