So hard to believe this storyline actually happened less than twenty years ago...truly appalling.
Charlize Theron portrayed her part flawlessly and the movie was careful not to man-bash so its definitely not a chick-flick. The assault and rape scenes were hard to watch but the end of the movie made me want to stand up and cheer for all the women out there who paved the way so that we can go to work and not have to worry about being sexually harrassed. Francis McDormand was absolutely incredible in the movie and the entire cast was perfectly put together to make the movie very believable.

Charlize Theron's Oscar win for Monster was no fluke. Here, she plays a single mother workign in the steel mines of her Minnesota hometown, forced to endure taunts, abuse and threats of rape from the men who don't want women in the mines. Theron more than holds her alongside Frances Mcdormand, Sissy Spacek adn Richard Jenkins, telling the story behind the first class action of sexual harassment lawsuit. The portrayal of sexism in the mines is a bit over-the-top and the delineation between the good guys and bad guys a bit blatant, but the film's climax is well worth the experience.
