    IT'S ME AGAIN

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 23, 2007

Pros: I ENJOYED GENESIS' PROG-ROCK ERA

Cons: PHIL COLLINS SUCKS SINCE HE WENT SOLO

HE LOOKS LIKE BILL MURRAY AS OPPOSED TO BACK IN THE EARLY GENESIS GABRIEL DAYS WHEN HE HAD LONG HAIR. THIS ALBUM IS BROKEN IN MY VINYL COLLECTION FROM A RECORD BREAKING PARTY I HAD WITH SOME NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS. I PAID THEM EACH $1 FOR EACH SUCKYAZZ RE...CORD BROKEN. THIS PIECE OF PHIL COLLINS GARBAGE WAS ONE OF THEM. Read more Less

  • Overall:

    A powerful album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 28, 2002

Although more "poppy" this is still a powerful album with drumming and vocal talents only brought on by Phil Collins. It does not matter what critics will say because the fans have chosen this to be Phil's high point to date. A great album and worth ...listening to! Read more Less

Pro Reviews: No Jacket Required

  • All Music Guide

The winner of the 1985 Grammy for Pop Album of the Year, No Jacket Required found Phil Collins fully embracing horn-driven pop music, drum machines, and sentimental ballads over his darker, more dramatic earlier solo material. The record established him as a major commercial force and as one of the most recognizable voices of the 1980s. Although the major hits here, "Sussudio," "One More Night," "Who Said I Would," and "Don't Lose My Number" have dated quickly, the album contains several standout tracks. "Long Long Way to Go," which features a cameo by Sting, is one of Collins' most effective ballads, while the pulsating "Take Me Home" utilizes the drama of "In the Air Tonight" on a more wistful track. "Only You Know and I Know" and "Inside Out," meanwhile, show an effective aggressive side to the singer. It's not a completely satisfying recording but it is the best example of one of the most dominating and influential styles of the 1980s.

Biography

Phil Collins

Phil Collins' ascent to the status of one of the most successful pop and adult-contemporary singers of the '80s and beyond was probably as much of a surprise to him as it was to many others. Balding and diminutive, Collins was almost 30 years old when his first solo single, "In the Air Tonight," became a 2 hit in his native U.K. (the song was a Top 20 hit in the U.S.). ... Read more
