  • All Music Guide

Like many of his new acoustic music contemporaries, Scott Nygaard attempts to cover a bit too much ground on his debut album No Hurry, yet he manages to create a distinctive amaglam of styles. Nygaard draws heavily from folk and bluegrass, yet he often dips into jazz, which brings him not only into fusion territory, but also closer to atmospheric new age. Occasionally, his music suffers from his over-ambition, as well as his tendency to under-write his compositions, but the lush, gentle sonic textures of No Hurry should make it worthwhile to progressive bluegrass, folk and new age fans alike.
