    Pros: Well written songs, great musicianship.

    Cons: This album deserved more airplay than it received.

    Jimmy Ibbotson's first solo album shows why the Dirt Band is better when he is part of their line-up. His song writing always displays a fresh look on any topic. Songs like "The Town That The Bomb", and "Hot-Lanta" deserve mor...e recognition than they received. Ibby's plaintive reedy voice is expressive and, strangely, at home in the city, out in the canyon, or up in the mountains. Every song on Nitty Gritty Ibbitson is a treasure waiting to be discovered. One listen to "Sara In The Summer" and you will be singing along: I've traveled this road as a stranger I've traveled this road as a friend I've traveled this road as a slack-jawed tourist Now, I travel it once again It may be long and cold and lonely But she's waitin' on the other side And I'm an hour closer to Sara in the summer Joyfully I ride.
