    The Good and Bad

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 10, 2009 | 2 out of 2 found this Nikon D3000 review helpful

Pros: Nikon, 10+MP, 11 Point Focus, 3 Inch Screen,

    Cons: Active D Lighting Slow

Hey Everyone, I wanted to get this review out here since I have owned both the D40 and now the D3000. Overall, yes very good camera and love it! Is it a big jump from the D40... Not really. Yes it has the 11 Focus Points, Larger Screen, More Mega Pix...els, and some more new features. My only real complaint is the Active D Lighting feature slows the save time down on pictures. If you are trying to really snap them off this can slow you down. With it turned off it performs the same or better than D40. I have taken many pictures with both and very happy with it. Also, unless you are completely new to DSLR's then the GUIDE mode is worthless but cool for new users. So my thoughts are if you have the D40 might not be worth upgrading unless finding good price like I did. If you are buying new then of course it is the newer technology and great camera. a better d200

By Andre  Oct 26, 2009 | 2 out of 2 found this Nikon D3000 review helpful

Pros: high powered entry level dslr

Cons: so far.... none...use manual mode for night shots

i had a d40, and for a while i thought the d40 shot better than the d3000. But now i can see the difference. I took a picture in auto mode and it was just unbelievable how clear the glasses on the person's face were. Everyone complains about mega...pixels, but if the d40 had enough......well you get the picture!!!! Read more Less
