    What a tremendous buy!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 25, 2005 | 27 out of 32 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

    Pros: picture quality,options,ease,stor
    age

Cons: recharging the light at night

Overall for anyone interested in a high quality picture this camera exceeded my expectations by a lot. It is easy to cpmprehend and use. Within one week I took pictures of magazine depth. The recharging of the flash is due to the AAA batteries but it... beats a $25 battery that would do the same thing. You have to buy at least a 512 storage chip or your wasting your time. It holds 350 pics, and on a trip you will take at least that.I love my camera! Read more Less

the cool (est) pix (els) in 5 MP ever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 12, 2005 | 9 out of 10 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

Pros: Print quality, small size, light, and easy to use

    Cons: Flash charging

This is my second digicam in 5.1 MP class. Compared to my first one, this small 'handy' camera is the winner in every level. This Nikon package makes my first camera just like a toy. I was amazed with the print quality result. With it's 1...2 scene mode, I can do whatever I want, to get the clearest pictures in any conditions. Once again, Nikon lens proves it's finest quality, even in a small compact digicam. What a value for money compact digital camera. Read more Less

    the best little camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 2, 2005 | 5 out of 6 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

    Pros: sharp image, features, flexibility

Cons: need to get rechargeable batteries

When I first bought this camera. I could not believe the many features for all types of sceneries. This is a very nice camera and probrably the best one I have ever had. The functions are very easy but read the manual for feature knowledge for all pi...cture taking scenarios. You also best get rechargeable batteries because the camera will drain the regular alkaline batteries, but other than that the camera is excellent for the features it has. Read more Less

    Good for the beginner...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 10, 2005 | 3 out of 3 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

Pros: Excellent outdoor and/or macro shots

    Cons: Poor low light photos

I already own 3 digital cameras but received this one as a gift. It takes excellent outdoor photos and magnificent macro shots. The colors are fabulous! Low light situations took more work to produce just okay results without use of the flash. Many o...f my low light shots came out yellow or blurred without use of the flash. If you have problems with blurred photos try holding the camera still and use the self-timer instead. The shutter lagged and there was time spent waiting for the flash to recharge. All-in-all the Nikon is a good camera for the beginner who wants a little more features than the average $100-$150 point and shoot cameras offer. Note: I ultimately returned the camera after a week of getting to know it. I decided to get a camera that offers auto and manual settings, so I'm now test driving the Sony H1. Read more Less

    Worth The Value

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 13, 2005 | 2 out of 2 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

Pros: Sharp image, easy to use interface

    Cons: Bad battery life

This is a highly recommended digital cam to use. With 5.1MP and 3X optical zoom, picture taking is really nice. Nikon provides easy to use interface which makes it comfortable when holding it.

You Get What You Pay For

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 14, 2006 | 3 out of 5 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

    Pros: Lightweight, Easy to Use

Cons: Slow Recycle Time (flash), White Balance Errors, Picture Quality Poor, No Manual Focus, Poor Focus in Low Light

I've been a photographer for roughly fifteen years now. I've done my own developing and taken many classes. I normally use a full-manual SLR (non-digital). I made the plunge to digital and, thinking of the quality of Nikon, got what I could ...afford. I should have done more research. This camera is all right for beginners but I would bet that you could, for the same price, find another camera (canon comes to mind) that costs roughly the same but lets you grow as a photographer. The complete lack of manual settings on this model make it a "disposable digital". I liken it to the little cardboard cameras you buy and then give up for developing because it is about as flexible with its options. That isn't entirely true as it does have a "scene" setting that allows for a number of pre-programmed conditions but it leaves a lot to be desired. Focus is the first major problem. If you like taking close-up pictures the LCD size makes it impossible to tell if your shot is in focus or not. I end up wasting a lot of time taking extra shots where one or two would normally be necessary. The range-finder is obviously of no use in this department either as the image is completely offset at close quarters. Sometimes an icon will show up that indicates "hand shake" which means your image will be fuzzy, but even without the icon I often get blurry images. The white balance is also too picky. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. There are several settings for fluorescent, incandescent and natural light among others but they can be hit or miss in their own designated light levels. Often an image turns out with a blue tint regardless of the setting. The picture quality goes back to the fuzziness. I have captured some incredible images but more often than not they are shaky even when using a tripod. I list manual focus as a con because it lacks it. Many of the issues could be solved with the addition of manual focus and even a simple depth of field option. What the camera cannot figure out usually the simple knowledge of these two settings together can. And low-light focusing is nearly impossible. I don't know what they were thinking when they developed this feature but it really doesn't work well. I've actually contacted Nikon and asked them about the white-balance setting and the other issues. They replied quickly but gave me no more useful information than what is found in the instruction manual. In general the camera is of good quality. I've taken over 5000 pictures with it since its purchase less than a year ago. I probably could have cut that number in half if the picture quality was better. But thus far it seems durable and mechanically sound. It has a nice size and feels good in your hand. The LCD is clear enough for the size but you can zoom in to get a better look at your shots if your are curious. The buttons and menu are simple to use. The Bottom Line: Don't buy this camera if you have any experience with photography. You can't grow with it as it is very limited in options. It is apt to annoy you and restrict you. If you have no more use for a camera than what a disposable has to offer and just want to play around a little more but aren't looking to improve your photography or understanding of it then this camera is excellent. Still, for the same price you can get something much more respectable with more options. Kodak, Fuji and Canon seem to be on top of their game. Here you are primarily paying for the name and it just isn't worth it. Read more Less

    Nice LITTLE camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 3, 2005 | 2 out of 3 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

    Pros: Easy to use

    Cons: haven't found any yet

I bought it and used it at a friends wedding the same day. I have never used a digital camera before so that is saying a lot. I like the quality of the pictures it takes. Thank you Nikon.

    Almost very good

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

    Pros: good image quality

    Cons: Short battery life

I recently bought this digital camera and I have been very satisfied so far.I am not the most tech-sawy person, but figuring out the controls and downloading the image software that comes with it was a snap My biggest complaint so far is the short b...attery life,on couple of occasions,I've been out for the day and the battery has died long before I was ready to stop taking pictures. Also, you'll probably want to buy a bigger memory card, since you can only take a few high resolation photos using the one that ships with the camera.Well there is one camera that is cooler we have it and I forgot what it's called. Great Travel Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 20, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Nikon Coolpix 5600 review helpful

Pros: Small size, amazing photo quality

Cons: well.... it is a point and shoot

I was a 35mm SLR film camera snob. Digital? Oh, please. Not anymore. With airlines letting you bring less and less onboard, I bought a Nikon Coolpix 5600 for my recent trip to Mexico and South Texas. After a short learning curve, I was amazed at the ...photo quality and versatility of this little camera. No, you don't have the long-lens capability of an SLR, but you do get some creative options. Great little camera! Read more Less
