Pros: Good lyrics and combo of beat.

Cons: Songs focus more on lyrics than they do music.

Well, the CD itself is fairly good. It could be better. The lyrics are very emotional and tend to bring you into the actual subject matter of the song. But the music seems to be more of a side show to the lyrics instead of being of equal importance. ...The lyrics themselves are easy to get stuck in your head but when you try to find the beat in your head it is very hard. Honestly I'm not sure if I would recommend going out and buying this CD. I guess I would have to say that I wouldn't recommend some preppy cheerleader going out and buying this CD, because it would not only be a disgrace to the band itself but it would be a disgrace to the whole rock community. Pro Reviews: Nightmare Anatomy

  • All Music Guide

Billed as a band that blends punk, posthardcore and goth sounds, Aiden is actually a bit more straightforward than that: their sound is a surprisingly welldeveloped blend of melodic punk and screamo. The goth influence is mainly visual: in the liner photos their heavily madeup eyes all glare out at you from under diagonal, dyedblack bangs. Ink, piercings, baleful stares they've got the whole look down pat. In fact, Aiden's visual image is so generic that it actually lowers expectations for their music, which takes you by surprise with both its lyrical subtlety (okay, its relative lyrical subtlety) and its popsmart structure. None of the eleven songs on Aiden's sophomore album is less than good, and several including the disturbingly hooky (given its subject matter) "Die Romantic" and the rhythmically disjointed "Unbreakable (I.J.M.A.)" border on excellence. "Genetic Design for Design" offers a surprisingly sincere plea for parental forgiveness, and "Goodbye, We're Falling Fast" is p...erhaps the most fun and exhilarating slab of screamo yet recorded. Very young and very early in their careers, the members of Aiden offer much hope for their future here. - Rick Anderson, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Aiden

Hailing from rainy Seattle, Aiden combines posthardcore and punk attitudes with gothic aesthetics and a love of all things horror (not to mention, of course, the Misfits) to create surging, darkly melodic music. The group formed in the spring of 2003 while its members were still in high school, taking their name from the young, ghostseeing boy in the 2002 horror flick T... Read more
