Let me tell you about Night Beilge shall I?
, March 14, 2001Reviewer:
Adam - See all Adam's reviews When Android's go beserk it can be a rather messy affair and someone has to clean it up. That some one in this case is the grizzly space cop Detective Gutrot Mcflipper, who has had his share of traumas, including getting bitten by a horse when he was twelve. The cyborg in this film which is a sequal from the original film Project Ballbuster, is played in this film by Frank Zagarino who studied for 12 months at the Hollywood Institute For Cybotronic and Futuristic Method Acting to perfect his part of the Cyborg who's CPU has been dipped in crazy glue, fish oil and Smarties, to turn him into the most dangerous and of course completely beserk Cyborg in the galaxy. Once programmed for madness the Cyborg sets about painting his house in colours that simply do not complement each other, and the Cyborg knows it and dosn't give a damn. Then he refuses to put out the garbage and turns up the volume on his TV so loud the neigbours cant hear themselves screwing. But it is not till the Cyborg goes completely out of control and moves his fence two inches into the next door neighbours property line that Detective Mcflipper is called in to put the Cyborg out of business and that's when things get really heated up. At first Mcflipper tries to get the Cyborg to move his fence back behind his property line but when he refuses, Mcflipper is forced to report him to the council. There follows a lengthy tribunal hearing and a lot of cussing, which is a shame, because the movie could have reached a wider audience if they took out some of the coarse language (Mcflipper has a habit of saying "Geez im stuffed") and I think the inclusion of an actual action sequence was a real mistake. Fans of Cyborg movies are generaly put off by futuristic action and are much more inclined to enjoy the philosophical aspects and languid ponderings on the nature of the universe than just seeing someone getting their head smashed in, or a spaceship crashing into the sun. In Night Beilge there is a short and sorry action sequence where the Cyborg, frustrated by all the legal complications his laxadasical attitude towards planning laws has caused him, breaks out and thumps his fist on a drink machine. It is a shocking moment and not for the faint hearted, and I think quite unneeded in a film which seeks to enlighten us rather than to bludgeon us with senseless acts of vandlisim. Apart from these small complaints Night Beilge: Project Ballbuster is a real winner and would be of real interest to anyone thinking of going into politics. See it just to find out what being in a local council planning laws tribunal is really like. ...
