    Pros: Astounding sound quality

    Cons: not enough music

The only negative here is that the band didn't make it a double album. For a live album done at that time the quality is amazing. If you're a fan of Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd etc. This is a must.

And also missing is the fretwork of the great Allan Holdsworth. But don...'t that foolishness keep you from buying this one. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Night After Night

  • All Music Guide

The third and final record by the progressive rock trio U.K. was recorded during a 1979 concert in Japan, although it was not released until after the group disbanded; by this time the group featured bassist and lead vocalist John Wetton with exZappa sidemen Eddie Jobson (keyboards and electric violin) and drummer Terry Bozzio. "Night After Night" serves a driving opener, followed by "Rendezvous 6:02," primarily a feature for Jobson's keyboard wizardry. The instrumental "Alaska" is a bit bombastic on the scale of Emerson, Lake Palmer, though the hardrocking "In the Dead of Night" makes up for it. Jobson switches to violin for the highenergy closer, "Caesar's Palace Blues" (which is not actually a blues). This is easily the best of U.K.'s rather small discography.

Biography

U.K.

Featuring members of Yes, King Crimson, Roxy Music, and Soft Machine, U.K. was one of the most prominent progressive rock supergroups of the late '70s. Various members of U.K. guitarist Allan Holdsworth, keyboardist/violinist Eddie Jobson, bassist/vocalist John Wetton, and drummer Bill Bruford had all played together in their previous bands, but when the group formed ... Read more
