The short but sweet film career of French leading lady Nicole Berger began in 1954. She hit her stride in the late '50s and early '60s, playing multifacted characters in such films as Francois Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player (1962). Her last performance was in Melvin Van Peebles' experimental first feature, The Story of a Three Day Pass (released in 1968). In 1967, 32-year-old Nicole Berger was killed in an automobile accident not far from the French town of Rouen. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
