Pros: A whole suite of services

Cons: Couldnt uninstall, VD can only mount two image types

Ive been using nero 6 oem for a while now and although it is looking a bit dated in todays market it still works a lot better then nero 7 did for me. Thats not to say there isnt potential in the software, there will be when they fix the broken part o...f it. Among the headaches that I experienced was the first time I installed it I totally forgot to install Nero Imagedrive and so I was going to uninstall it and start from scratch to see if there was anything else that I had forgotten to install as well. About midway through the uninstallation process a dialog box pops up saying that there is a corrupt installation and cannot continue. What the? So by now im scouring for a solution and came across Nero Toolkit, well that didnt help at all. So I did a reformat and started over, a few weeks pass and I decide to give it a try again, bad mistake. I get the Imagedrive installed only to find out that it can only mount ISO's and Nero images, Only two images I thought? Now im really ticked, all this fuss for this Imagedrive that I had hopes for was gone, poof. Dissapointed, I go to uninstall the Imagedrive part of nero and all goes well until all my ISO images are being associated as image files. I did manage to fix that problem with some help, but by then it was too late it was really on my bad side for me to continue any more use for it. Im sure the other features that come with it are really nice to have, but the plague of problems kept me from getting that far. Read more Less

Nero fiddle but never burned a single disk

By Charles  Jun 20, 2007 | 1 out of 1 found this Nero Ultra Edition review helpful

    Pros: past history

    Cons: present configuration

Repeatedly locks up my system. Previous Neros were excellent. This latest version is huge and ponderous. It just doesn't work anymore. I am an experienced computer user, designer. I have tried everything to get it to work wiouth crashing. On one ...of the uninstalls, it actually took down some other progams with it. They are just trying to do too much above what there original charter was, to simply burn disks. Read more Less

Nero and Roxio Put New Spin on Traditional Disc-Burning Suites

Advanced features in both updates, but one targets power users while the other goes for ease of use. Both suites are composed of multiple individual modules--Nero counts 18, Roxio has 25--most of which are accessible via a launcher or individually through Windows' Programs menu. Each suite has its assets, and each makes strides with features on the periphery of disc burning; which suite you'll prefer depends on which capabilities you value most. Read more
