Dannii Minogue's "Neon Nights" is a terrific gay-Euro disco
album that most Americans will never hear. It has a huge, electronic "wall of sound" production and sizeable dance floor hooks.
Dannii's obvious limited statue as a singer and disco diva are a perfect fit for the calculation and timing of the beats and lyrics. It comes off as oddly classic and respectful to the genre of gay disco-Dannii and her many programmers were not expecting a crossover hit at all. They completely pander to gay men, making the music seem politically correct to own and enjoy (if there is an American straight man who has bought this I want to hear from you). She shouldn't be judged by the standards of her sister, that tremendous force of gay dance power and style, Queen Kylie Minogue (a dream come true for me). She will never scale the same heights, but on its own "Neon Nights"
is a super record for its targeted audience-that my current fav gay porn star Tag Adams cites this in an interview as what's in his stereo should say it all. Also, if you remember Cathy Dennis fondly or have bought any of the Spice Girls solo albums, this CD is for you.
