NeoGeo Cup '98 Plus Neo Geo

The only soccer game available for the NeoGeo Pocket Color, NeoGeo Cup '98 Plus Color features 16 international teams for use in single match play, head-to-head play, and an RPG-like Story mode. On offense, players can pass and shoot, and defensive players are able to charge and slide at their opponents in hopes of stealing the ball. Yellow cards and red cards are handed out for intentional fouls, though, so be careful.

In the Story mode, you take control of one team's destiny as they attempt to win as many games as possible in a series of tournaments. Before and during each game, you can alter player formations, make substitutions and view statistics. Prize money earned from winning matches is used to purchase items in the soccer shop that will alter your team's abilities. For instance, "frog bandanas" increase heading strength but decrease speed, and "monkey pants" increase technique but decrease tackle strength.

Options for two players include a single match with any teams, a "vs-match" with players' pre-existing teams in the Story Mode, and the ability to trade items. All two-player features require the ~NeoGeo Pocket Link Cable. ~ Skyler Miller, All Game Guide
