Pro Reviews: Natural Selections

  • All Music Guide

He manages to fit in Erik Satie by the end, and indeed makes it sound quite natural. Gentle music for guitar and ensemble, quiet performances against a muted background, though this doesn't mean that the album is uninteresting -- Ellwood provides a very engaging set on this disc, one that's interesting enough for repeat play. Listeners will find it soothing enough for meditational purposes, or for creative exercises...or, indeed, simply to listen to.

The Canadian-born artist later developed an interest in renaissance and baroque music, taught himself to play the lute, and eventual... Read more
