All his life, Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage) has been searching for a treasure no one believed existed: amassed through the ages, moved across continents, to become the greatest treasure the world has ever known. Hidden by our Founding Fathers, they left clues to the treasure's location right before our eyes... from our nation's birthplace, to the nation's capitol, to clues buried within the symbols on the dollar bill. In a race against time, Gates must elude the FBI, stay one step ahead of his ruthless adversary (Sean Bean), decipher the remaining clues and unlock the 2000 year-old mystery behind our greatest national treasure.

    Cons: wasn't rele realistic

it was a great a movie, but the treasure could never actually b real, and stuff. i liked how it sorta had a connection wit the da vinci code. it wuz rele good at sticky to the plot, and i give it a 5 star rating.

    Not QUITE a National treasure

Pros: Justin BArtha - strong storyline

Cons: cage's hair piece and voights plastic surgery

It's a stylish little romp through American history and the stuff late night talk radio relies on (The Knights Templar, Consiracy Theories, Raiders of the lost whatever). Overall it hs the bits needed for a goof family view-good guys, bad guys, g...ood guys doing bad things for good reasons. an adorable sidelick Justin Bartha) and beautiful woman, a couple start names and some classy cinematography-why then do we get BORED as the unlikeable charecters drone on and infight slowing down what should be a race for the golden ark-this could have easily been an Indiana Jones movies and we would have been spared Nick Cages dynel pompador not to mention John Voight (as his dad) looking puffy and over botoxed. What this film needed was some more sinaster BAD guys not the semi-sweet brits featured here. Cinematography is lovely with sepia tones prevailing in the treasure scenes, scarey rotting timbers, spooky dumbwaiter elevators entries through graves amd all sorts of things that make Disney go PARK ATTRACTION!!! (don't be suprised). At the end of it all I played the boring treaure hunt game and checked out most of the extras and all - in - all had to admit I genuinely liked this flick (despite the fact that as they go on they are less carefull about the priceless document they are toting). I still think BARTHA saves the day with his pouty, acidic asides, grunge fashion show and charming good looks=lets have more of him and soon! Read more Less
