Naked Boys Singing (2007)

They Sing! They're Naked! So what?

Pros: Cute guys in a variety of types, some fine voices

Cons: Please stop w/the cheap video effects & chalkboard harmonies

Well yes they Sing, (some better than others - Jaymes Hodges, Joseph Keane and Jason Currie all stand out), and they're Naked (and thankfully they aren't all one cookie cutter type), but shouldn't someone have written some songs?
To be fair a few are sort of charming ("The Bliss of Bris", "Perky Little Porn Star") a couple are well performed near misses ( "Fight the Urge", "The Naked Maid") and some at least started with an interesting or fun idea ( "Robert Mitchum", and Hodges two "Nothing but the Radio On" and "Kris, Look What You Missed"), but almost every song runs on too long, has odd bridges, segues into what sounds like a completely different song but isn't (or is it?) doesn't know how to end, or ends okay and then blows it ("The Entertainer").

The director&/or "videographer" need to stop with the 1980 home video camera tricks (the credit sequence/
"Overture" will leave you squirming for a piece of unadultered film), learn how to just let a performer sell thier song, and enough with the pseudo-ballet/
broadway/
jazz-hands choreography.

And why does "Window to Window", (a) Think it's a great love song? - it's not, it's about two voyeurs, not an earth shattering love story. And (b) get a reprise - it's possibly the worst song in the show and...see (a).

As for the "sex" factor, well lets just say that after about five minutes you'll realize that often anticipation outweighs fufillment...oh there's a song they missed...

If it's penis you want, rent a porno. If it's singing well you know your own taste better than me.
And if you just have to watch a movie with a gay man or two and songs try "De-Lovely" or even "In and Out".
