Pros: easy to set up instructions on disc
Cons: to early to decide that
i had this for a day now and it is working perfect. Sure it is unencrypted but i did not payup the bucks to buy a router that does that so that was that. i dont keep anything secretive on a PC. so for me it doesnt matter. if you keep financial records, etc, then dont buy this one buy something more expensive and higher quality. i wish the setup time was quicker but it was relatively pretty quick nevertheless.
Pros: Easy to purchase
Cons: LONG LIST
I am trying to get some support since last 3 days. Already spend three afternoon to figure out what went wrong in installation. Already used my 150 minutes on phone hold waiting for next available rap. Left 4 message with phone #. NEVER EVER BY ANY PRODUCT
Just in case if you are thinking I am not computer savvy. I sell stuff on ebay for living.
If anybody from netgear is reading it is my SOS please call me at 281-777-8857
Pros: Works well when connected
Cons: Drops connection when computer is inactive
The router set up all right and worked well initially. But I soon found out that when I am away from the computer it somehow loses the connection. I've had otehr routers and never had this problem this consistently. So, I often have to restart my computer to reconnect, which takes tiem. Reminds me of tehold dial-up days. I'm buying another brand next time.

Pros: Worked with my old computer
Cons: Will not work with my new Dell
This router comes with only a 54 gig transfer speed. My new computer requires at least a 128. Sucks
Pros: GOOD FOR THE FIRST SET-UP
Cons: THEY DIE AFTER A MONTH
DO NOT BUY NETGEAR.
Pros: Easy fast set-up
Cons: Bought a refurb, no disk.
This was the easiest set-up on any wireless I have owned. In addition, I have had problems with the last two wireless routers going down on a daily basis. I was originally using a LinkSys and than a USRobotics and both would shut down the DSL modem daily. The Netgear WGR614v5 has yes to perform the same issue after being up for over 3 weeks. Great product and a deal for only $15.99 on a refurb model. Only drawback is no documentation or CD, otherwise a great product. Did not have a need for tech support so I cannot really comment and gave that a neutral rating.
Pros: terrible
Cons: terrible
This is by far the worst product on the market. There is no service from Netgear. This is a DEFECTIVE product and needs to be recalled.
You will lose connection after 10 mins or so everytime.
If you say this is a good product, keep it for awhile and then review it again.
Give it back and buy a Linksys.
Pros: so far so good
Cons: needs to provide installation directions
I have netgear for 15 hrs now its ok so far, since installed there is no problem yet, but there was a lack of installation guide
Pros: Its Works For Your Daily Use
Cons: Setup Is The Worst No Help
When You Call in for helo for setting the router up its a blur. Half Of the time you can understand the people and. The rest of the time they cant help you. But once its working its great. But sometimes minor the happen But all you have to do is restart all the computers that are connected to it and the problem will be fixed. Since i bought it i haven had to call tech support at all.
Pros: easy to setup
Cons: support
I had used many WiFi routers before such as Linksys and D-Link. I got a WGR614v6 firmware version 2.0.13_1.0.13. It was working fine for couple days. Then suddenly, the WiFi was not working. My laptop was disconnected from the router and couldn't reconnect again even rebooted the both router and laptop. After changed some settings (like set to 802.11g only) and it works again.
I afraid the problem will come again, so I went to the NetGear site and checked the latested firmware and it was 1.0.11. I was confused for a moment since mine was 2.0.13.... But I thought the one on the site should be the latest one and I updated it.. BIG MISTAKE!
After the downgrade, my internet slow down a lot. Then I found out the there is no way to restore the original 2.0.13 firmware and no where to download it. Many people have the some problem.

I spent hours to dig into the web and NetGear site for the newer firmware. Then I found the V2.3.3PR_2.3.3 firmware in NetGear China site. (http:/

k) My internet speed got back to normal but the router config page is in Chinese.... :(
My question is how can they ship the router with newer firmware and put the old firmware on their site as the latest firmware ....?
Pros: Sale
Cons: Sale
This is the worst thing I ever had. Support team know nothing. Unprofessionals. I spend hours and hours with them finally they decided to exchange it but I have to pay for the shipping. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER!!!!
Pros: price
Cons: a little work to set up
Over all I'm very happy with my NetGear router. When I went searching for a wireless router the guys at BestBuy were trying to push one on me that cost twice as much. When I winced at the price they grudgingly sold me the NetGear router. Getting it set up with incription with NT took me a little work and some reading, but that was probably due to me falling behind the technology.
Pros: hmmm, perhaps getting a refund
Cons: knocked cable modem out of service, couldn't register
Last Sat. I attempted to replace a d-link RJ45 router with a WGR614 Netgear wireless G router. It worked for a few moments, then knocked out my cable internet connection (RCA cable modem). I tried to work through the instructions and debug procedures for several hours. I called Comcast, plugged the modem to the pc directly, which still didn't restore the connection, and made an appointment for service to restore the cable internet. Then I called called Netgear support. To use phone support, you have to register your product online, difficult when its knocked out your connection, so I hung up.
An hour later, my internet connection started working (Ok direct to pc, or w D-link, but Netgear would kill it), so I tried to register the Netgear online, but it said the SN was invalid! I called, and after holding about 20 minutes, got a support technician who said my product wasn't registered and started to terminate the call, but I insisted on support and he explained that som
Pros: there are NONE
Cons: technical support and customer service doesn't exist
router continuously dropped connection, was not compatable with DSL motem I had. Also after exttensive testing I conducted using this router I found that it is unsafe for an unexperienced user to use, it is very easily hacked into allowing your valuable and sensitive information to become vulnerable. Tech support is based in India and you can never understand what they are saying, which they only read from a text book of how to correct problems. SO in fact are clueless of how to fix any problems. They are also rude and very degrading to customers. I have worked with computers for 30+ years and have never been treated with such disrespect in my life The router was defective from the purchase ( and I exchanged it 3 times) which I have come to find that all their products are. They wanted to charge me to replace the router. Customer service does not return phone calls nor is helpful. Do yourself a favor get a LYNKSYS router, I have used these products for years now and have never encoutered a problem.
Pros: Convenience
Cons: some set up snags
I just bought a NetGear WGR614 wireless router and a WG111 wireless USB adaptor. I bought this to allow my wife's pc laptop access to the internet in a room which has no phone/cable jacks. I also have a Mac G4 desktop.
To my surprise, I was able to configure this router with my Mac G4, using the Safari web browser (Explorer didn't work). Setup on the pc laptop had some snags. The manufacturers website did not offer much help on my problem. After about 45 minutes, I figured it out and got the network running.
The system now works great! We do not have the recommended USB 2.0 network, and are still getting great results in speed. I took the laptop all over the house, and had no problems with signal strength.
I do recommend this product with the matching wireless adaptor. However, be prepared for some troubleshooting on a pc. The setup instructions sound easier than they actually are. Mac users, this is a winner!
Pros: Trouble free for 6 months and probably forever
Cons: Installation instruction is lacking
I had to call Netgear tech support and was up and running in few minutes. If the instructions would indicate that the reset button must be pressed for 30 seconds the telephone call would have been unnecessary.
Pros: easy to use all in one device
Cons: none
i bout it on sat morning had a few beers, set it up pissed, no problems.
Pros: none
Cons: dont buy !!!!
dont buy !!!!
Pros: Can't find one.
Cons: Bad support, bad QC, bad router
I purchased a WGR614v2, and for about 2 weeks it continually had intermittent problems. In many tests, I finally narrowed it down to it's inability to handle large amounts of file transfers/packets.
I upgraded the firmware, and the problem still persisted. I opened up a trouble ticket with Netgear and they advised me that the router was defected and to return it for a replacement. I went back to CompUSA, and received a replacement (no problem from CompUSA). This time I received a WGR614v3.
The same exact problem persists with this new router. After another 2 hours with tech support from Netgear, they advised me to return this one and to try again! Infact, they even advised me to get a WGR614v2 instead of a WGR614v3! I'm afraid not! 2 routers out of 2 are defective! That doesn't say much for their QC or their products in general.
To emphasis that it IS their router(s) that are defective, I can connect to neighbors APs (Linksys and Actiontec) with no problem what-so-ever! It is only when I connect to a NetGear AP, that this problem exist.
Run, don't walk, from Netgear!
Pros: Easy set-up, good range, rarely drops, great security
Cons: None really
Just purchased the router today, the only problem I ran into was my laptop did not want to connect. Set up took only a few minutes. My one real complaint is the support. Even though the lady was a great help, we had a hard time communicating, it was like talking to a wall. Which leads to my only other concern, after talking with her, in order to get my laptop to communicate I had to upgrade the firmware for the router and the update my wireless driver. Then I was able to communicate and I have not had a problem since.
Overall this is the best router I had found. The security is great (except no information on WEP), range is awesome, looks great, can't say enough. I strongly recommend getting this router or another router by Netgear if possible.
Pros: great connection when it works
Cons: dosen't always work
I've used a couple different wireless routers. Net gear was easy to set up and get my system running. However, I've had a few times where it just doesn't work. Why it doesn't work I don't know.... Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and it will usually stop working for about 30 minutes at a time. I thought I could fix it by getting the latest firmware from Net Gear and I did that and it started working again but only for about 10 minutes.
I guess it's possible I'm getting some type of unknown interference but my other wireless router never had that problem.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm please but a little fustrated with netgear. If your in the market I would advise you to get another brand.
Good Luck
Pros: Easy to use, good reception, looks cool
Cons: None
I am a computer technician and I recommend this router and Netgear adapters to all of my clients. They are very easy to set up and use, and problems are very rare. A+ overall.
