    Unfortunately, this router won't work with Nortel Contivity VPN. Tech support could not get to the bottom of this.

    Support Desk Not Helpful

    Pros: Cheap

    Cons: Supprt Sucks

    After calling help desk they refused to help unless I paid $60+ ... said I had router longer than support was allowed. (6 months) Support desk was not in the US and not helpful at all. Every time Windows Vista updates the router has to be reset and s...tops working. Can not get anyone at help desk to help. Will not buy Netgear again. Read more Less

    Don't believe your eyes

    Pros: Reliability is good. Good for family with many kids, maybe..

    Cons: Feature set is the problem

    I will compare NetGear and LinkSys BEFSR41 If you want to buy quality, buy NetGear. LinkSys is a bit less reliable. BUT. This is a huge BUT. Don't believe your eyes when you read the feature list on the cover box. NetGear does not support even a... half of them. This is just dishonest. Particularly I was struggling with logging. Do you think that it is important to get DoS attack report or who is scanning you? NetGear can prove you wrong. Their logger reports what sites you are visiting. May be it is a good router for a family with 10 kids, but definitely it is not for a professional with a home office. Moreover, the log the router sends is ridiculous. It sends it "when it gets a chance", that is it may send you 2 reports within a week and next report you will get sometime next year. The report is showing records for a few past hours giving you freedom to guess what happened between two reports. It looks like the router wakes up and realizes that it has to log something and report that to the owner and then hibernate again for a few months. Having faulty logging feature makes me wonder if the router does actually a good job filtering packets and rejecting DoS attacks. The router DOES NOT support SNMP and syslog. I tried to get information from the customer support, but they strongly believe that the router does what is declared on the cover box. After proving that the router does not that, the customer support repiled "the netgear router do support DoS attacks" (yes, that the quote as it was answered) and closed the incident. Will I buy another NetGear router? No! I don't believe their cover boxes and specs. They lost my trust. I had a LinkSys box. It had all I wanted for the same price. The only problem I had with it, I had to reboot it from time to time. NetGear was rebooted last time a few months ago. Read more Less
