The freshly titled NASCAR SimRacing represents a new, more simulationoriented use of EA Sports' exclusive NASCAR license for home computer gamers. Unlike the publisher's annual console NASCAR: Chase for the Cup games, realism is the focus of this new PC title, and stars of the sport Ryan Newman and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. served and testers during the development process. In addition to highly refined physics engine designed to produce an authentic driving "feel," the game recreates all the most recognizable details of the sport, including 60 drivers and their teams, a series of 28 tracks, and scoring based on the 2005 NASCAR Nextel point system rules. Players can compete in the Craftsman Truck, National, or Nextel Cup series, and a number of different game modes are supported, from pickupandplay single races to multiseason careers. Up to 43 Internetconnected human drivers can compete against one another on the same online tracks, and can even use a microphone or headset to communicate with one another in real time through the game's builtin Voice Over IP features. ~ T.J. Pros: Awesome graphics

    Cons: Gameplay, same old EA

When I heard that papyrus would no longer be able to make Nascar games, I was crushed. I purchased Nascar Thunder 2004 and was utterly frustrated with what I thought I would be forced to play for my Nascar fix. Then EA set out to better what was the ...KING of Nascar games, Nascar Racing Season 2003. They hired some papyrus people, and put some killer graphics along with a new telemetry feature which is awesome. However the game play is still nowhere near that of Papyrus. Upon attempting my first online race, I was black flagged for before the green flag fell for whatever unknown reason. Upon attempting a season in the truck series, I encountered the same issues I encountered in Thunder 04, such as your crew chief telling you to get behind a car that you are already behind, you then get black flagged for passing under the yellow. They may be able to salvage this game with some patches, but in my opinion, Nascar Racing Season 2003 is still the King. My advice to EA, pay whatever it costs to get the whole Papyrus crew, and let them make Nascar Racing Season 2006. Read more Less

Overall, SimRacing might not be as deep as Papyrus NASCAR games, but it bridges the gap between arcade and hardcore simulation better than any game weve played before. Read more
