Synopsis: Mystery, Alaska (1999)

Synopis: The remote and isolated Mystery, Alaska-a little town on the outskirts of greatness--- may look cold and unexciting from the outside, but inside, behind closed doors, Mystery has all the sex scandals, hidden secrets, prying eyes and political hypocrisies of any urban den of iniquity. And, it has a darn good hockey team. In a town where everybody knows everybody else's business, a human interest story in a national magazine suddenly thrusts the village into the world spotlight. When the town's amateur hockey team accepts the challenge of a face-off against the New York Rangers, the entire population must put petty rivalries behind them and prove there is no mystery, in Hollywood Pictures' drama, "Mystery, Alaska."

   At first, i thought i would hate this movie...I am from south florida and also lived in Hawai`i for years. I dont know anything about ice hockey and thought i would be bored to death with this film. Also, i had never seen anything with Russel Crowe besides 'Virtuosity'.
   This film was so good! I laughed. I cried. I cheered. The performances were all terrific!
   Everything about this movie was entertaining.
   Every actor in this film was near flawless!
   Easily 5 stars! ...

   Its very rare that a sports movie has such great character and human interest. I loved this movie.
   
   Hockey is truly, the most exciting and most challenging game to play, but the game is almost secondary in this movie, as the focus is on conflicts and evolving life issues )midlife crisis, isolation, economics and pride).
