Despite selling an impressive number of albums with Charge It 2 da Game (1998) and Made Mann (1999), and also scoring a gigantic hit single with "It Ain't My Fault, Pt. 2," Silkk the Shocker's first album in two years, My World, My Way, shows that the young No Limit rapper hasn't grown much as an artist. For the most part, this album is what you'd expect; Silkk doesn't take any chances here as a rapper and the No Limit production team still proves itself more inclined to imitate than innovate. Fans of Silkk's preceding work should find My World, My Way a comforting listen, though a close listen does reveal that Master P's youngest brother has indeed done a lot of growing up since Made Mann. Still, his maturity never shines through like it probably should; Silkk's still catering to his young wannabe thug audience, a demographic more into idealistic clichés than heartfelt sincerity. So if you can look past this theatrical approach and treat the album as simply a stylistic exercise, there... are indeed some enjoyable moments here, the most notable one being "He Did That," one of the more impressive No Limit songs of the early 2000s. There's really not too much else to say about this album that hasn't been said about every other No Limit album.
