Geddy Lee has got to be the greatest rocker in the world. He has been playing for 30 years now and not one of the albums he has been a part of has been shabby. For those who don't know this, Geddy Lee (along with Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart from Ru...sh) is the Ambassador of Music for Canada(dubbed so in 1979), and he sure as hell lived up to his title (which Rush quite deservedly earned recently after the release of their eighth record release Hemispheres{1978}).With songs like My Favorite Headache, The Present Tense, Home On The Strange, and Grace To Grace on the album, even people who can't get into Rush's sound will find themselves rockin' out to these fine melodic strains. Tunes like Working At Perfekt and Moving To Bohemia will give Rush fans just what they wanted to hear, purtaining to Rush's old progressive style. I have not been made aware of a more complete musician than Geddy Lee. He has stood the test of time and can still rock with the best of them. I should give the record a 6 star rating because it deserves it.I faithfully await the next Rush release, which I expect to be along the same lines as Test For Echo, even though I long for another epic like Xanadu or Necromancer.Don't sleep with gum in your mouth. Re: How can Ged NOT get a 5-star review?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 29, 2001

Excellent stuff! Geddy hits on all chords here. A far superior effort than Alex's solo effort (Victor). I listen to the CD 3 or 4 times a week. Can't get enough... till the next Rush CD comes out, that is.

How can Ged NOT get a 5-star review?!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 9, 2000

There's something special to Rush fans about anything that Rush produces -- be it Alex Lifeson's solo project "Victor" or Neil Peart's book "The Masked Rider", and now the first full-length solo project from Geddy Lee. I've always thought that if th...ese three guys were on a sports team, they'd be a dynasty. Bird, McHale, and Parish if you will. But more like Bird, Bird, and Bird. -- Absolute care given to the product, a work ethic that's disciplined, a common goal for success, and likely most important to the guys, Fun.Geddy's album was released November 14th, and for the first time in more than 20 years Geddy appeared for an in-store signing. Someone upstairs must've set this up, because of all places this was at the Mall of Menlo Park, New Jersey at CD World.Thousands of people came to meet Geddy. The line was so long, and even after I'd met Geddy and hung out at the store for a couple hours to shop and eat dinner, Geddy was still in the store signing autographs and taking pictures. He stayed at least 3 hours beyond what was scheduled. Geddy was down to earth, very real, and so very gracious, which only reaffirmed why Rush is so special to me.So this album "My Favorite Headache" is like I expected. There are tinges of Rush, minus Alex and Neil. the lyrics aren't Neil's, but what is present is a rough edged bass and guitar sound, and occasionally we hear some of Geddy's finest melodies (his voice hits beautiful tones in his elder years, ey?). The second track, "Present Tense" is my favorite to date. Similar melodies to "Bravado" -- another Track 2, from Rush's "Roll The Bones" in 1991.So for this man who's a shoe-in for 5-star reviews gets one. It's like a football player who's made the Pro Bowl 12 years in a row. The 13th year he goes to Honolulu even if his regular season was just ok.Geddy is far from just ok, and this album is important for any Rush fan. Read more Less

    Very impressive!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 9, 2000

This album is the best recording Geddy Lee has put out since Moving Pictures with Rush. His voice has never sounded better since 2112 and the music on this album is so diverse that you do not get tired of it like the past few Rush albums. Very solid... outing! Working at Perfekt is by far the best on the CD! Read more Less

    My Favourite Headache

This album is a very diverse piece of work. Geddy alludes to some shades of Rush on some of the heavier tunes (title track, The Present Tense). Geddy also shows some sensitivity in his songwriting with some softer, more melodic numbers (Still, Slipp...ing, The Angels Share). There is creative use of strings and interesting keyboard sounds that add to the layers of music heard throughout the album. You'll hear some blues, some funk, some heaviery alternative, and some straight-ahead power pop/rock. It's a solid outing that shows us Geddy can hold his own as a solo artist. Read more Less

    Excellent Work!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 3, 2000

Heck, I haven't listened to Rush in a while and while I have almost all of their albums, I've just kind of moved on to other music. I'm still a big Rush fan but I'm just listening to more stuff now. Anyway, I heard about this album the other day and... people were very positive about it so I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did. I think Geddy Lee did a great job on this album. There are a few songs that remind me of Rush but for the most part, it's an exceptional album with it's own originality. Of course, I'm guessing that the only people who will listen to Geddy Lee or even read these reviews will be Rush fans so it's hard to say anything else. Bottom line: It's a great album! Another Beauty, eh!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 20, 2000

The brilliance of Geddy Lee is apparent immediately. The music is very diverse and pleasantly surprising. A great variety of songs from slow and thought provoking to hard and powerful. I can't stop listening to this album!

    At least I've heard it

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 20, 2000

I have a hard time understanding how people can rate an album when they only have heard one song from it. Then again, if you are a Rush fanatic, you'd probably give it a 5 no matter what, so whether or not you hear it has no bearing on the rating.An...yhow, this disk is pretty good stuff. It sounds a lot like Rush, obviously, though the guitar and drums seem more subdued (which is what I would have expected sans Alex and Neil). And to tell you the truth, it is nice to see Geddy do all the lyrics. Read more Less
