Cons: Perhaps a bit sappy, second half drags a bit
This is a very unique album. An album of pop songs, with a theme that ties them all together into a story. Songs like "I Propose" and "This is Our Child" are extremely moving and emotional. This should have been a classic... too bad it's out of print.

Richard Harris was at his height during this time. He had starred in Camelot and had released two successful albums. 'My Boy' by Jimmy Webb is a 'novel' album with it's songs progressing the story of the singer and the love of his life, Beth. They meet, fall in love, marry, have a son, fall out of love and divorce. The songs are extremely moving and sung in the Harris sing/talk style, not a great singer but an emotional one. His song to his young son attempting to explain why he is leaving is particularly heartbreaking because of Harris's vocal acting; you can hear the sadness in his voice. The saddest part of this album is that it is not availble on CD. I was able to download a poor at best copy. It's almost worth pulling out the old turntable and listen to my album. ...
