    Sad and beautiful album

    Pros: A unique record at Harris's height.

    Cons: Not availble on CD.

    Richard Harris was at his height during this time. He had starred in Camelot and had released two successful albums. 'My Boy' by Jimmy Webb is a 'novel' album with it's songs progressing the story of the singer and the love of h...is life, Beth. They meet, fall in love, marry, have a son, fall out of love and divorce. The songs are extremely moving and sung in the Harris sing/talk style, not a great singer but an emotional one. His song to his young son attempting to explain why he is leaving is particularly heartbreaking because of Harris's vocal acting; you can hear the sadness in his voice. The saddest part of this album is that it is not availble on CD. I was able to download a poor at best copy. It's almost worth pulling out the old turntable and listen to my album. Read more Less

    Perhaps My Favorite...

    Pros: Incredible concept, vocals, orchestration

    Cons: Perhaps a bit sappy, second half drags a bit

    This is a very unique album. An album of pop songs, with a theme that ties them all together into a story. Songs like "I Propose" and "This is Our Child" are extremely moving and emotional. This should have been a classic... to...o bad it's out of print. Read more Less
