Pros: Great Music, Nice Lyrics, and Unique

Cons: If you don't understand German

Ever since my sister got me into Rammstein, I've been a fan also of course she owns all the c.d's not me. All I can say about Rammstein is that if you don't understand German it's your only drawback. Yet, hearing it makes you want to ...learn it. I've read every song lyric translation. Some deep some funny. Rammstein is a metalic mesh of techno that could give Metallica and Linkin Park a run for their money. Read more Less

This is a great album. every song is catchy. If you don't speak German, you will still love this album. And another thing, this kind of music actually originated from Florida. So all you psychos can forget about Rammstein being nazis, just becaus...e they are from Germany and sing evil-ish music. How shallow can you get?! I'm from Germany and I'm perfectly 'normal'. I highly recommend this album. Read more Less

  • All Music Guide

How do say “brief stay in the American spotlight" in German? Rammstein, the German forebearers of keyboard-inflected Wagnerian speed metal, are at it again, with Mutter. True to their Teutonic roots, the lyrics remain almost exclusively in German, with only a few pithy expressions tossed in to add melodrama. Mutter is without a doubt the closest Rammstein has come yet to approximating the over-the-top silliness of Gwar, the only difference being that Gwar's doing it on purpose. “Feuer Frei" is capped off by nearly three minutes of torture noises, the final blow being lead singer shouting “bang, bang." A small part of me wants to think that all this would seem less tacky if it weren't in German, but a bigger part makes me think that understanding what they're saying would only make it worse. The Faith No More-esque keyboards are kicked up a bit, adding little to the final sound beyond an atavistic 80s feel. This album is for hardcore Rammstein and euro-metal fans only. - Kieran McCarthy..., All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Rammstein

Rammstein was formed in 1993 by an assembly of factory-weary proletarians raised in East Germany. They took their name (adding an "m") from the location of a German tragedy where 80 people were hurt and killed as the result of a crash during an American Air Force flight show. The literal translation of "ram stein" is a battering ram made of stone.Word of Rammstein's hor... Read more
