    THE MUSIC IS BEUTIFUL

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 31, 2002

I listen to all kinds of music. Basicly 1960's to now. I first heard the song "Touched" on the radio a few years ago, that song just blew me away. Crosby's voice, the insturments used, that way the song was sung just got to me. I love the fact that o...ther instruments are used in the music,( the strings, the orchestration, the cello, ect.)The fact that I like a lot of music and VAST uses a lot of instruments to make a different sound is one of the main resons I like them. The words are beutiful. The song "Flames" is one of my favorites also. It's just one of the few bands that get to me.I hope VAST keeps the good work up and I hope never change. -nicole Read more Less

    jon is my musical hero...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 15, 2001

while i still have yet to buy the first cd(which i will very soon if i can find it!) i know i won't be disappointed when i do. if it's any better that music for people then i'm gonna love it. i don't see how you people can hate this album or the ba...nd just because they changed their sound. i'm sure some of you have heard of stabbing westward(a similar band. a little more rock). they made three albums that were really heavy, intense, and dark. then out of the blue they release their self titled album that almost sounds a pop rock album(with the excetion of a few songs). i loved it but others hated it because they didn't stay with their "roots". vast has only had two albums so far. they don't really have any "roots" yet. on a side note. i realy love rock music with orchestral background. my favorite songs are lady of dreams and a better place. One great musician, two great albums.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 19, 2001

Jon Crosby as Vast first really caught my attention when I heard "A Better Place" on the Music for People album. After that, I had to listen to more. The more I listened, the more I realized what a great musician he is. Visual Audio Sensory Theate...r was good musically, but Music for People is better. I'm a musician myself and it's easy for me to tell. Jon has the ability to right in many different styles and shows expertise in each. He also has the ability to use melodies that aren't normally used very well (i.e. "My TV and You"). I have been listening to this album now for about a year and the more I listen to it, the more it amazes me. He is one of today's truly great musicians. Not a lot of people see what I see or hear what I hear when they listen to his music. Read more Less

    total genious

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 28, 2001

I can't imagine the pressure Jon Crosby would have been under when writing new material after such an amazing debut effort. But he shows the worlf that he is not one to crack under pressure. I cannot think of a better follow up album. He carries on t...he sampling work from visual audio sensory theater to create the same very gothic, dark, emotional feel. Standout tracks include the first single free, the last one alive, a better place and my tv and you and like the first album there is not a weak point on the cd. Another brilliant vast effort and here's to Jon keeping to good form going for the third album. Read more Less

This album is so amazing. I enjoy Jon Crosby's music because he has so many different styles and he does them very well. It shouldn't be critisized because the other album was different. I think it is great when an artist grows and is able to put out... different styles of music. Besides, who wants to hear the same things all of the time? Read more Less

It lost the original passion of the 1st

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2001

Music for people is a very good album, but it certainly isn't a great one, unlike Visual Audio Sensory Theater. Some of the tracks on the album can be seen more as John Crosby trying to incorporate his original style of the first with the influences ...of many other artists (Depeche mode, NiN, Jim Morrison, Beatles and U2). The album suffers because of this. It also suffered on the market because it was aimed at a rock audience, when it isn't really a rock album, it's far more generic than that...I think this album would've done extremely well if only record stores and the like promoted it as a generic album, instead of tucking it away in the metal sections on stores. Anyway, although I've sounded pessimistic towards the album (And ironically gave it 4 stars), I think that the music is well enough, and that the next album will be even better than this (And maybe event he first).Gav Read more Less

If there is one album you buy before you die, make sure it is this one! Jon Crosby has really achieved something amazing with this album. The evolution from debut album V.A.S.T is breathtaking and Crosby's sense of dynamics is awesome. the collabo...ration with the bombay orchastra has taken VASt's music to a new level. To list every nuance of brilliance on this album would take too long (although I have to mention "A Better Place" which is truly, truly beautiful). Buy this album - NOW! Read more Less

    Incredible!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 26, 2001

Music For People is an awesome sophmore album. If you've heard their debut (Visual Audio Sensory Theater), then you know they have a lot to live up to.But lo and behold, VAST manages to crank out another album full of upbeat, rocking, and generally ...kick-butt songs that leave you wanting more. MFP is an incredible album that shows just how much they've grown musically in the last two years since their last. Every song is catchy, and even if the style is a little more "poppish," Jon's songwriting genius still stands out in every way. In fact, its similar to the first CD in that by itself, it's a totally original and different kind of album. The music contains that same sparkle and depth that made the first album a hit, it's just expressed differently. It's an album that you MUST have if you really want to understand what music is. It's got everything from solo guitars to an orchestra, and is one of the best follow-ups I've ever heard. There's nothing on this album to dissapoint, because each song is a masterpiece by itself. If you could only buy one more CD in your lifetime, I would highly reccomend this one. You'll be singing to your grave. Read more Less
