    Wow! I'm amazed

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 8, 2004

    Pros: great

    Cons: there are cons

I've grown into many kinds of music and their are bands I just love. But rarely do I come across a band that gives me the feeling that The Music gives me. When that first song kicks on, I get this lump of anticipation in my throat. It's crazy. The music of The Music is like no other band I've ever heard. You can dance to it, but it's not techno or dance music. It rocks, but it's not really rock music. One thing is that their name is so general, it's hard to search for fan sites and such on the internet (you can probably guess what sort of things you could get when you type "the music" in a search engine). But anyways, this band is phenominal, and I can't wait untill they come to Chicago because I'll be right in the front row rocking like no other.

I love that the band takes aspects from many kinds of music and wraps it into one package, the music energizes anything or anyone...its the best thing I've heard lately

    Good Stuff

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 16, 2003

awesome blend of many different genres of music. Robert has a very cool voice which really blends in with the fast drum beats, pounding baseline, and fast-paced guitars. good music for when u get really stoned. try and lissen to em and not move a limb, it cant be done.

    Brilliant, Haunting, and so on

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 7, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this Music (Import) review helpful

There are hardly the words to describe music this affecting. This isn't the repetitive techno you hear in rave clubs, and it's not the same grunge-descended drivel you hear played endlessly on rock stations these days. Hardly a comparison exists in modern times; you have to go back twenty-five or more years to the prime of art-rock bands like Yes and Genesis, when they were at their epic best. You might be able to get away with comparisons to "Joshua Tree"-era U2, with the shimmering, grandiose sounds present here, but there's none of the pretentiousness that Bono brings to the scene.

Robert Harvey's obviously British voice recalls such figures as Thom Yorke of Radiohead and Jon Anderson of Yes, but he tries for a unique style. But really, the vocals and lyrics aren't that important; it's all about The Music, and hence the bandÂ’s name. The sheer depth and breadth of this music is enough to put you in a trance--your limbs can't help but jerk to the muscular drumming and throbbing guitars. Individual songs don't have too much distinction, but they don't need to. Again, the emphasis is on the sound of the album as a whole, which meshes into one long, though completely enjoyable and energetic, song. Just the slowly-building instruments and mock-disco drums in "Disco" are enough to put this album in a league of its own. Other standouts include "Too High" (just try to resist rocking out at the end there) and "The Truth Is No Words." Hopefully the band will continue to make such innovative and refreshing music as this.

Have you managed to witness the brilliance of the music? this album is a stroke of genius and not by accident but by intentional ambition and i'm awarding my praise and admiration to this amazing creation. This is worth more than just a listen, but rather worship.

At last, a band that can rock and make you dance at the same time. It's just so refreshing to listen to and blows away all the cobwebs. Whether going out or chillin in your room, this is a must have album for every fan of funky rock!
