   Alabama's popularity continued to grow by leaps and bounds in 1982, and it was no secret as to why. Mountain Music (which, depending on the source, is their biggest-selling album) helped contribute to that success. With their blend of traditional and contemporary country and southern rock, Randy, Teddy, Jeff and Mark continued to hone their skills -- and shine as a result. Again, I don't know why "single-edit" versions of two of their singles -- the title track (which, incidentally, cuts very little from the musical bridge) and "Take Me Down" -- were necessary. Many country stations (including Davenport, IA-based WLLR-FM) played and still do play the album version, which many more people (including myself) enjoyed better. Alabama's rollicking party ballad -- appropriately titled "Gonna Have a Party" -- is another highlight. ...
