Pros: Lots of features, easy to use.
Cons: Poor quality and construction.
I'm a country gal so I always like to buy things rugged, but I didn't have this phone 4 months before something went seriously wrong. The outside display stopped working, and to replace the chip was going to cost me 80 dollars and two weeks while they fixed my phone. Since I used the phone for work, I figured I could go without the outside screen, until 2 months later when the inside screen started acting up. The date and time would be upside down, or backwards, then sometimes when I flipped open the phone it would show a completely white screen. Made answering calls tricky, I ended up missing important calls and answering non-important calls during busy times at work. Finally the center key pad broke and I gave up the phone for something new. I sadly did not purchase the protection plan, and if you get this phone I highly suggest you do so. I didn't because this was my first upgrade from my i50, which I had for about 4 years. Now THAT was a great phone, green screen and all, wish I had kept it. I had too much faith in Nextel when I purchase the i580, the quality of their phones has seriously gone down over the years.
Pros: unbreakable,all u need features +,biker friendly!
Cons: none
as a m/c enthusiast I can honestly say this model fits all needs a biker could ever want. Motorola did it right with this one and I imagine it will use this model into the future as a guideline as cell phone technology keeps improving. You will not be disappointed by purchasing this model and ensure you buy a bluetooth device and data plan to get the full features this phone provides.
Pros: Rugged mil specs, excellent price
Cons: none
This phone is a great phone. Works just fine, no dropped calls, or any other problems. Nextel made a mistake when ordering mine over the phone so the phone only cost me $80, yes 80 dollars. Bluetooth is a great feature. Phone can really take a beating thanks to the military standards. Recommend this phone for any one who wants a reliable phone that is really rugged.
Pros: Rugged *looks* - good feature set
Cons: Typical Nextel drop calls
After 2 months and learning about Nextel's network, I can say it drops more phone calls then any other service I have ever used. This is a Nextel issue and not the phone. I can only summize that it is due to the lack of towers. Where other services rent towers where thewy have gaps Nextell only uses their own. So no local tower and you can figure out what will happen.
My i580 was purhcased just about when it came out. I was sold on the ruggedness of the phone. Unfortunatly after 2 months of ownership the front display went blank. Nextell refuses to do anythinhg other then send me to Motorola who wants me to ship the phone to them without a replacement. They are saying 10-15 days for repairs or replacement. This is my business phone and is completly unacceptable being this phone is used for my business.
So 2 months 1 broken phone which by the way does not have 1 scratch, never droped or bumped.
Thank you Nextel/Motrola... NOT...
