    Don't make this mistake!

    Pros: None

Cons: Phone is a total piece

This phone is under a product advisory from Motorola because the external called ID has a propensity to crack. Additionally the phone white screens, drops calls, powers off during calls, fails to charge, etc. etc. This phone may be inexpensive, but b...elieve me, you get what you pay for. nice little basic cellphone

By discdogger  Feb 16, 2005 | 11 out of 11 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

Pros: size, reception, voice quality, battery life, simple menus

Cons: screen's a bit small, outer faceplate smudges easily

Got it for free with a new T-Mobile 1 year contract, and after using the phone for almost three weeks I have basically no complaints. The phone's look and features are very customizable, and the size is wonderful--sleek, super-lightweight, and sm...all without the buttons seeming cramped, although there's room to have made the screen itself larger. Nice outer display too. The best aspects of the v180, though, are its battery life (10 days on standby! 7 days with lots of calling!) and its reception and voice quality: no crackling, nice loud microphones, and great signal (but that might be more because of the carrier than the phone). People think I'm on a landline. Speakerphone feature works great too. There are plenty of ringtones, from songs to simple rings, and more to be downloaded. I've heard complaints about the phone feeling cheaply-made, but although there are a lot of plastic parts on the v180 it doesn't feel flimsy to me. The black faceplate is easily scratched or smudged, though. So what that it doesn't have a camera? For just making calls, the v180 rocks. I'll be investigating some of its other features (texting, downloading photos to the phone, web browsing) soon, but in the meantime I'm enjoying it. Read more Less

really nice phone. like so much better than previous phones we had. (nokia) this v180 has a lot of really nice features. really don't need a picture camera phone, better to use your own camera.
MOTOROLA, keep up the great work!

By SamanthaC  Oct 26, 2005 | 2 out of 3 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

Pros: There are not any pros.

Cons: The screen goes black all the time when you open it.

The service was bad, I could never get any sevice when you out and about. The phone was very ceeply made because when you had over a period of time it started to crack in places. I do not like this phone. I would not get it again.

    V-180

By none  Apr 13, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

Pros: Nice looking, color screen, good buttons...

Cons: Caller id screen VERY poor, fragile, extremely bad quality

I got a V-180 in the end of September, 2004 and within 2 months the screen had gotten several large cracks, and big blue blobs on the caller id part. In the end of March, 2005 the screen started twitching and then after two days the screen went total...ly black. If I wanted to call someone I could if I knew the number in my head it allowed me to dial the number and people could call me, but I couldn't see who it was since the caller id part was cracked and had big blue blobs on it and the screen was black. Plus I couldn't text or do anything which was quite boring for me. My mother got a V-180 in the middle of November, 2004 and about 3 months after she had had it, it had been laying on the counter overnight and in the morning it had a big blue blob on the caller id section. Recently she exchanged her phone to a new V-180 and when we put the sim card and battery in it couldn't vibrate when somebody was calling her (this being a brand new phone that had just arrived in the mail). So we have had 3 V-180's, which all of them have been bad. Extremely poor quality. Yes its cheap but there is definelty no quality there either. Read more Less

    motorola V180- fragile beauty

By DavidW  Mar 24, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

    Pros: lots of features

    Cons: fragile

Never had a cell phone so prone to failure- the hinge tends to wear if used a lot and causes screen difficulties. I even fractured the outer screen by leaning against a pole with it in my pocket. I've had other motorola products that were pretty ...resistant to dropping and atmospheric moisture- not this one!! Read more Less

    I like it

By pivleg  Feb 22, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

Pros: sound quality, battery life, size

    Cons: outer case scratches

I've had my phone since November, I did not want a camera phone and wanted to replace my older model, very basic Motorola phone. Love the size and sound quality, I can hear people very well and they hear me, too. Even inside buildings tha can be... pretty problematic. Department stores, for example. It also holds a charge well. I don't care much about features, except I do like personal ring tones and the color screen, it isn't huge, but I'm not playing movies on it either. Display is large enough to be easily readable. The outer face plate does scratch fairly easily, but I keep it in my purse in a cloth pocket most of the time. When it's out I just keep it face up. So it's OK for someone who dosen't use a phone hard. Some of the Menus are a little cumbersome to use, but learnable in a little time. Just not as intuitive as my older Motorola. Read more Less

    Great phone for the office

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 11, 2006 | 1 out of 2 found this Motorola V180 review helpful

Pros: no camera, easy to use

Cons: bad reviews on this site

Use this or a similar phone for the office where you are not permitted a camera phone (mine is an office like this). Maybe a v182 or better if you are deceived by bad reviews. Unless you drop a cell phone in the toilet or something it should not be ...all that bad since they have been getting a lot better than the original ones. Shut up about the toilet, it was my first phone plus I was in college and drunk... that's the reason I wear belt clips now. Most cell phones are good and it is the service or location you are in that might suck. Either that or it is a defective version of the product so take it to where you bought it and demonstrate it as no good. Read more Less
